Anyone have any ideas how to get rid of this stuff with minimal skin damage to the person doing it?

Are you wanting to get rid of the poison ivy plant itself that is growing? Or the ras on the skin? If it is the rash You can dilute a little bleach and put this on it, then put calinine lotion on it. You can also get benydryl tablets at the store and take them for the itching.

Ivy dry - Ivy dry for poison ivy
Ivy dry, is really good at helping the symptoms, I think it is available in spray and cream. It helped my guy when he got it. It helps dry it up and keep it dry, I think that helps it go away faster too.

Hi Margie, One of the best things for poison oak/ivy is tea tree oil. Rub it all over the areas. It will take away itching. Within a day it will take down the swelling. In a few days the rash will start to fade. If you do not have any tea tree oil at the moment, calamine lotion will take away the itching and dry it a bit. Whatever you do, don't scratch it. I mean it!!! :) Kimberly

Predlisone (steriods) will fix it up within a day. A lot of doctors will prescribe it for you without an office visit if you let them know over the phone that you have poison. The above user's response was quite accurate also. Tea Tree Oil can be purchased at Wal-Mart fairly cheap. It's also a good thing to use on your face for break outs.
