Dhoni coming in at No.3 and not playing his attacking game. A mere 36 off 54 balls with a strike rate of 67 in today's game. I think there are many players that can do this. And also we miss a big hitter at the depth overs. So are you satisfied with Dhoni's role at No.3?? Would we not be wasting his attacking batting if he is not allowed to play freely???

I thik you are right , dhoni batting at no:3 is really not going to work for us . yes it is true that dhoni has scored some good runs at no:3 but if he doesnt play in the depths it could be a problem for us. in todays match we should have score atleast 300 but we have managed to score only 285 , if dhoni would have batted at the depth , we would have definately got 300 or plus.so he should be played at the depth in my opinion.

I agree with you. Not having Dhoni in the end overs made a big difference to the Indian team total.

yes man. he is being asked to play under pressure wen all the batsmen r gone and only he is left.. or he is asked to play atop and stand there for a long time without getting out..

But there is no hitter in the end overs when we need real accelaration. Classic example is yesterday where we should have easily scored 320 runs we ended up 30 runs short because we missed a hard hitting batsman like Dhoni.

I feel Dhoni should bat at no.3 depending on the situation of the match like if we need to send attacking player to make full use of the powerplays to score some big shots then Dhoni can bat at no.3 but he has to show controlled aggression chose the balls and spaces to hit play percentage cricket.
otherwise if we are batting first and if openers have given a good start then he can come later at no.5 and score quickfire 50 to help post big total or help chase down a target as he is a good finisher too alongwith yuvraj. If batting second chasing big target then he can bat at no.3 and show controlled aggression and play attacking crikcet as per needs of situation.

Hi, I feel that Dhoni should not regularly come at number 3. Only when we are batting second and chasing a huge total, we should gamble him at number 3. At other times, leave him in his usual slot as he is the one capable of accelerating the run rate by his lofted drives in the slog overs using his power. Only yuvraj singh other than him possesses that quality in the bottom order right now. Thanks.
