How many bad years have the Indiana Pacers had this decade? Sure, they were legitimate contenders for the Eastern Conference crown during the Detroit Pistons' championship year but in the years that followed their prowess diminished significantly, what with the losses of Reggie Miller, Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson, and Al Harrington.
They really need new potent players, I agree with you on that, but they also need to know that they weren't doing too well in acquiring the talents that they need the past few seasons.
I'd really like to see them trade Troy Murphy or Mike Dunleavy out if they're going to keep Jermaine O'Neal, but if in case they decide to trade their main player, I'd really like to see them get better value for Murphy and Dunleavy. They're not good enough to support O'Neal, especially if the Pacers organization decide to raise their goals and set their sights on the championship.

I don't think jeramine should be traded. he has carried the team on his back for years.what the pacers should do is give him some able support.I was shocked with the way the organization disbanded its lineup.first it broke the froncourt tandem of oneal and brad miller. then they lost croshere.then they let go of a great potential in al harrington. they even let go of stephen jackson whose been making waves with the warriors. the pacers org needs to get those people back or people of equal talent and they'll be back on track with jermaine as the cornerstone

Don't you think it's way too late for that? Jermaine O'Neal is getting too old for a waiting game, and ever since Reggie Miller left the Pacers they've been trying to rebuild and rebuild the franchise. So far, nothing good has come from it. I personally think the Pacers organization isn't doing a great job of getting the right people to surround their franchise player, and the best thing to do right now is to go for a youth movement and try to establish a core group of young players to spearhead the growth of their team. O'Neal should be traded if they hope to get good, young talent.
On the player level, I also think Jermaine O'Neal deserves a break from this team. At this point, I won't be surprised if he declares he's tired of the organization trying to pick the right players, because it's pretty obvious they haven't done well in trying to get him ample support. He's been reduced from a great player period to being just a still-great-at-something player stuck in a mediocre franchise. I say just let him go and let him have one or two championship rings before he retires.

I think so. Jermaine O'Neal's not getting any younger, just like Minnesota's Kevin Garnett. The problem with the Indiana Pacers in the recent seasons is that they're not really making great moves with their rosters. The only potent player they have now besides O'Neal is relative newcomer Danny Granger. I don't think Jamaal Tinsley can ever match the expectations set for him, and neither do Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy. They need another major overhaul, for in my opinion their trade with Golden State really messed up their chances at getting good players via trade (they could have traded Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington for other players). And in that overhaul, I believe they should trade O'Neal for younger talents while the former's value is still at a premium.
I also don't understand what type of game the Indiana Pacers are looking to run. They're not fast enough, they're about average defensively, they don't have an overwhelming offensive threat, and the bottomline is that they really don't have much of an identity as a basketball team. Perhaps they should start there before they trade their players out, maybe they'll find some direction for the offseason.

NO!!!!!!!!! J.O. should not be traded. What the Pacers need is a management change. Their manager sux!!!!! Why did he trade two guys that are supports for O'Neal's game? Look at the Golden State Warriors now. They advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to the acquisition of Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington to aid Baron Davis, Jason Richardson, and M.I.P. Monta Ellis.
