Should Bermuda become an independent country - I say NO
Currently we live and work as an independent country, but we have the protection of the UK & EU. Independence would cost money, lots of it. We would need to create treaties with countries for trade, embassies etc.
Before you answer, please look up info on Bermuda. We are a small island in the middle of the ocean. The whole population can fit in the average American football stadium. There are farms with more acreage than we have.

bermuda is a good country and beautiful also to make it as a indepent nation owuld cost them allot and i don think so they have to be fully independent because the population of bermuda is very less and with the support of uk and eu they can go beyond..

We have very little to offer the world. We live on re-insurance & tourism. Tourism was severely injured in the 1970's when the US deregulated the airline industry and made it cheaper to fly thousands of miles from New York to Hawaii than the 700 miles from New York to Bermuda.
On the Re-Insurance, right now it is great, but all it takes is a simple change of US law to kill it. That would wipe us out financially.

dbda_rock, you have raised some good point...given the fact bermuda imports most of what it needs, I think Independence must be think through with all the pros and cons...right now it has its advantages being a part of the UK and having a certain advantage as well with USA.
