Do you hang up on people that don't know how to pronounce your name?

With all of the telemarketing that goes on, I automatically hang up on people that can not pronounce my name correctly. To me, this means that they don't know me and are probably trying to get me to pay for or do something for them. What about you...do you tolerate people mispronouncing your name?

I always want to hang up on those people, but I usually wait just for a few seconds first to make sure it isn't something that actually is important. Maybe I'm too nice. lol

I tend to hang up on telemarketers to begin with. I tell them that I am not interested and they keep talking. I try to be nice about it, but I always end up having to hang up. Most people can't pronounce my name correctly because it is so odd, so I have gotten past that through time, LOL

Yes, I tend to that as well. I hang up sometimes, or correct them first then hang up. I have had some people that I have had to tell "No" over and over again, and they just do not listen.

I have mixed feelings on this one. Sometimes I do hang up on people who can't pronounce my name, because they are usually telemarketers (or bill collectors). However, I also work at a bank where many of the customers are foreign students attending a local university. I do sometimes have to call them on real bank business, and I do feel badly when I don't know how to pronounce their names. However, if they hung up on me, they would miss important information they need to know (like that their account is negative). So while I don't like my name being mispronounced, I often am in a situation where I have to call people whose names I can't pronounce, and it makes me feel bad. I try to learn as many of them as I can, but sometimes it's just impossible. My little brain only has room for so many foreign names!

I don't always hang up when the person mispronounces my name. Sometimes it is the doctors office calling about one of my children. The will look at my name in the childs file and not remember how to pronounce my name. If I do happen to find out that it is a telemarkter I usually hang up. I have tried so many different things that haven't worked so i figure hanging up is the easiest.

I am not mine, more later discounting, to see if the person if touches, and stops to sweat with the name of the others.

I do not mind if my anyone mispronounces my name because my name can be pronounced in two ways. People who do not really know me would tend to say it wrongly and I do not blame them. My name has the vowels 'ai' and in French and English, the sound of these two letters are different. I have not hung up on telemarketers yet. I feel that it would be impolite to do so. However, one time I saw my cousin do it so I said to myself, maybe it's okay to do that sometimes especially with some telemarketers who are very pushy after you have said no.

I rarely answer my phone these days. Thank goodness for Caller ID. If it's not a number I recognize, I don't even move out of my chair. And, if I'm not certain, I let the machine get it anyway. If it's something important or legitimate, they'll leave me a message and I can call them back. I do know that one time my name got onto some sort of list and was misspelled. So, it was a completely different name. When they would call and ask for that name, I would hang up immediately. I got so many calls and so much mail from that list (and I never did find out how I got on a list that way). Thank goodness for that opt-out number!
