My daughter and I went to Wal- Mart today to pick up some Tomato & Pepper plants. She saw the Collard Green plants and wanted them. She asked me if I knew how to grow them. I said heck no, but I'll figure it out. My question is when do you pick them? Also how can you freeze them? Do you just freeze them, or do you like blanche them first?

Collard greens have been easy for me to grow. I buy some seeds at walmart that are actually 10 cents a pack. I buy about three packs. I till the soil, mix in some old leaves and plant them. I freeze without blanching, but the right way is to blanch. I have been doing this for 15 years

I don't know much about collards but I know I love eating them! I think you do have to blanch them before freezing them though. Now I love aspargus and I am going to try grow some of that this year because it is sooooo expensive to buy!
