If you are gluten intolerant, how did you find out? How long have you been eating a gluten free diet? Has taking gluten out of your diet made you feel better? What is your favorite gluten free product?

Hi there. I've been gluten-free for about a year now after being diagnosed with Celiac Disease from a blood test, and it has made such a difference! I had strange GI symptoms for a really long time, and after several barium tests, my general practitioner said that I most likely had Crohn's Disease. I didn't buy it, and went to a specialist... within about 5 minutes of talking to me and reviewing my bloodwork, he suspected Celiac. I took the blood test, which ended up being positive. Adjusting to the diet was difficult, and it was strange having to be conscientious about everything that I was putting in my mouth, but I quickly got used to it. I feel so much better now that I don't eat gluten anymore, and my vitamin-levels have raised quite significantly, as they were really deficient before. I used to get sick ALL the time too - I'd be near someone with a cold and I'd catch it instantly. This winter, however, I haven't been sick once!! (Knock on wood.)

I have been gluten free for four months now. Well, that's just my self-diagnosis. It started when I had a severe acid reflux attack in January this year. It came so suddenly. I took medications for it, but the meds had side effects I could not tolerate. So I started searching for natural cures and came across the gluten free diet. When i went gluten free, I noticed that symptoms were going aways so I figured there must be a connection. When I do eat gluten, the symptoms come back plus other neurological sypmtoms like tingling of hands, and panic attacks. I don't have acid reflux now so I am sticking to the gluten free lifestyle (which is kinda costly here in the Philippines) Gluten intolerance is not widely recognized here in the country and I seriously doubt if doctors are even aware of it. I'm looking for support groups here now..
