Where are the best places on the internet to learn HTML & CSS

I was wondering if anyone can help me in finding a website or two that teaches a comprehensive beginners course on HTML & CSS code ? I have been attempting to create a sample website of my own using NOTEPAD but can't seem to get it to work correctly .If anyone has learned how to do this or can direct me to a site it would be greatly appreciated .Has anyone else tried to make their own page in this fashion ?

Thank you very much,I checked it out last night and it appears to be just what I was looking for .Really straight forward content and practice scenarios.
