HYIP and paypal

I've been looking around at some HYIP's and nearly all of them seem scams and pay by e-gold. I've also read paypal doesn't allow HYIP programs because they are illegal. Is this true? I've made my first e-dollar and looking to invest it but I don't know and trustworthy sites. If anyone has signed up to a HYIP and got paid via paypal please let me know.
