OK-- I know alot of people may think I'm crazy but I do regift. Not everything of course- For those that do not know what regifting is- It is this: Getting a gift, present that you aren;t crazy over and then giving it to someone else for a gift- I've done this several times- If I know a friend will love the gift I got- and I don't care for it- either it doesn't fit or it doesn't go in my house- I'll put it away and regift it later- I'm careful to not give it back to the same person and I always make sure I take all wrapping paper and labels off. How many of us regift?

Yes i too regift. I think this is something which can't be helped. One can't expect that every gift received would actually be used. I put labels on all gifts received clearly mentioning details where and from whom received to see that it is not gifted back and also not to persons who were present while getting the gift. I do repack it properly to give it a perfect presentable look.

Oh thats is even better than my method- I have a work pile (ones I get from friends at work) and a family/friend pile- so I'm sure that I only switch back and forth-- only gifts that I can't use.

I do,...ssshhh don't tell anyone:) Like you, I also make sure that it won't look like a regift. I'd be really really embarrass if one finds out! When I was young I use to feel guilty about it...not anymore!

I have done it a couple times. it seems a shame not to, when you have something that you can't use and you know someone who will like. i do keep track of what person gave it to me so I won't hurt their feelings by giving it back to them

I agree- I usually keep a tag with the items to be sure that I don't give it to anyone that knows I got it as a gift.

I agree- I have a pile of things that I bought or were given to me- so I always have a gift on short notice. I usually regift candles and things like that- I have terrible allergies.

I regift all the time, without hesitation. ISometimes, if I give the regift to someone I know well, I will even admit that is is a regift. At work, we have holiday gift exchanges, and it has become a running joke with some items being regifted several years in a row. If I think the item I recieved is poor quality, or not appropriate for anyone I know, and I also don't want it, I will donate it to a thrift store, rather than pawn it off on a friend.

thanks for your opinion- I also agree that most people put alot of thought into gift giving but if it something I cannot use- I have no problem giving it to someone who can.

I have never regifted. I thought about it. when I clean out my daughters toy room, if I think there is a toy appropriate for becky...I may regift that at christmas. My sil used to do that with her boys at christmas time. They never knew the difference.

I never thought of that- But I only have 1 child. Regifting is fun at times- I like to see the person I give it to get excited- Thats when I know I picked the right person! Thanks for the comment!

I am not sure if my friends and family know I do- I usually always add something to the gift when I give one. I think regifting is great!

Ok I admit it. I do regift sometimes. I dont see the need to keep something that I am not going to use just because someone bought it for me. I try to give it a new home with someone who can appreciate it. LOL Makes me wonder if there is a gift that has been regifted mutiple times. LOL

lol- that reminds me of the Ugly gift tradition me and 4 girlfriends do- We bought this awful Walmart light up house and we exchange it for holidays- You never know when you;ll get it and you always have to wrap it to look nice- When you get it you have to keep it until the next holiday and you have to display it proudly! I cringe at holidays when I see a package on my doorstep! I agree though- if you can't use the gift and someone you know can - its better off being used. Thanks for the comment!

I DO!!!! But don't tell anyone!! If I get something I don't like or can't use I keep it to give to someone else. Or if my kids get a present they don't really need I keep it to give away =)

I have done it and I usually feel bad about it at the beginning but then I realize that I'm not going to use it at all so why not give it to someone who would use it. It also comes in handy especially when someone comes over with an unexpected present and you didn't get them anything. When that happens all you have to do is just go into the room and grab a present. Just be sure and do what you said, make sure you don't regift it to the person who gave it to you and make sure all the labels are gone.

Cool.. so that's what it's called.. haha! I think my parents do that. When I was a kid, I get a lot of toys, some of them I didn't bother to open. So they keep those toys and stock them in the cabinet for next year. I think I had never regifted yet, just Kris Kringles since I have no time to buy a gift every day.. Is it a bad to regift? Because I feel kinda guilty..

I love to regift. I keep the item in it's original box or whatever and save it so it's just like new. But I do keep track so I don't give it back to the one who gave it to me! If the item be something someone else would enjoy more it would be a shame not to give it to them!

Absolutely! That is exactly how I feel- If someone would enjoy it and I wouldn't I will give it to them. Of course I make it look new still too! Thanks for the comment!

I do that too. That's not to say I am being choosy because I do appreciate any thing that is given to me. But when I am given a present or a gift that I do not really need, I'd usually keep if for a while and then when the need arises, I would give it to somebody who has a need for it. I just repackage the item. Besides, this is practical since one need not shop for gifts when there are some preciosu items you have stored.

I think it's a thrifty and great idea. It saves from tossing stuff in the trash. It recycles. It saves money. AND... it's nice to have at least one thing that you can do without available just in case of a surprise party and an even more surprising empty bank account! LOL

Very thrifty! I think if I can't use it or don't want it and I know someone who does- Isn't it better off? I just hope the person who gave it to me- doesn't ever come looking for it!

lol-- I think regifting is fine for any people. If I can't use a gift and I know someone could- they get it! Sometimes I just give it as a I'm thinking of you gift.

lol Oh my friend i am so guilty of this one it is a sin. And you are right you got to be careful doing this as it could find its way back to the person it came from. he he You call it regift we call it recycling lol. Just cant let it go to waste right? I do feel that the giver of this gift didnt put much though into the gift or it would have been something that would not have ended up in regift as you call it.

Yea I do that too. I mean what harm is there if they person receiving it loves it? I wouldn't even mind if someone else gave me something that I like but it was a regift. Well if someone just abhors the idea. They can always sell off their unwanted gifts and use that money to buy a new gift for someone else. Why keep "junk" right?
@KrisNY (7590)

Yep you can always sell unwanted items or take them back- I don't usually pass on junk- just things I can't use. thanks for the comment!

YES! HAHHAH I hate that I am admitting it, but yep I have done it. I figure it's better than wasting it and I know someome else that would use it! I make sure not to give it to the same person too, but i've only done it once or twice. I guess I don't get alot of presents, haha. I make sure to rewrap it and make sure there are no tell tale signs, but otherwise I go for it. haha!
