Do you ever find that your origionally mis-hear the lyrics to some of your faveourite songs and spends weeks, months or even years singing those wrong lyrics untill one day you finally realise you mis-heard the lyrics and have been singing them wrong all this time? If so, give me some examples of the lyrics you mis-heard and what they really are!

A lot of you may not even remember this song, from the 70's. It was called Roller Coaster. For years I thought they were saying, "Don't get grossed out!"
I know there were other songs too but this one will forever stick in my mind as my stupid rendition of the lyrics.

For years I thought:
Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich mans world
was:
Money, money, money
It's so funny
In a rich mans world
My girlfriend was the one who actually pointed the error out to me, haha.

I do this ALL THE TIME. Its really funny, because my boyfriend studies music at university so he is always the first to correct me. I can't remember any examples, but I know there is a website out there dedicated to "misheard lyrics" and some of them are bloody hysterical.

A rather weird thing has happened to me with a Romanian song. There was a line where I kept hearing "invade". But it really had no sense in the context. And I listened some more, every time I listened I heard "invade". I asked my husband what did he think about it and he said well of course the word is "evade" and it's heard very clearly. Now I admit that "evade" did have sense in the context so it might have actually been "evade", but each and every time I listen to that song, even willing myself to hear "evade" I still hear "invade". Each and every time. And my husband is still saying that "evade" is very clearly heard :)
Oh well.

The website that lists a bunch is called "kissthisguy.com" because one of the most common misheard lyrics is from Jimmy Hendrick's Purple Haze, the line is "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" which is sung by most people as "Excuse me while I kiss this guy!"

For years a Tim McGraw song I have been singing wrong. It never made sense but I didn't know what he said.
I was singing to the song "all I want is a life"
signal comes I want a piece of that pie
well the real version is "sick of the crumbs I want a piece of that pie"
I laughed when I found it out. I knew it never made sense but I didn't know what he was saying.
