Have you read any books relating to the Holocaust? If so, which one(s)? Did you like them? Please share! I have read The Diary of Anne Frank, Alicia: My Story, and We Are Witnesses: Five Diaries of Teenagers Who Died In The Holocaust. Obviously, they were all sad.

When I was much younger I rad a book called Daniels Story I do not remember the author as I am going back almost 15 years here. But it was about a Jewish boy and his diary. It was based on a true story and was taken from a diary of a Holocaust Survivor. It starts with his life in regular mode, then the war and the prison camp, his parents and his sisters being separated from him, finding out about their deaths, finding his sister, learning of all the bad things that were happening to her. Then she disappears.... It was so sad. I read it in grade school because it looked interesting. It made me cry and greatly affected me to the point that I can't read another book about this horrible time in our history.

I have also found that books about the Holocaust make me cry. It's just unbelievable what happened to millions of innocent people!

I rather agree with you; I read a story some years back about a Polish woman who went through the Holocaust and how when they were being rounded up, the people were like happy to see them go; I thought that was so horrible; she got through the camps, but it affected her so that whenever she ran into some Germans, she was real negative to them. I know without a doubt that I cannot read anything much on that time period because it is so sad and horrible and I know I won't be visiting the Holocaust Museum in D.C. I just cannot and I am African American. My mom would say from time to time that man's inhumanity to man is horrible and I agree.

I have read "Rescuers:Portraits of Moral Courage in the Holocaust".
it is a good one.the present book as the title suggests is about ersisitance to thr holocaust. according to me it isa stunning book, exquisitly produced by Holmes and Meier, with breath taking photographs by Gay Blockaccompanied by commentaryand interviews by Malka Drucker. They portry some of thr epeople who sheltered and otherwise assisted jews during the Nazi occupatoin of Europe.
All in all, i liked it .

I've read every one of the books you mentioned. It sounds weird, but I am pretty much hooked on Holocaust books.
One book I've read that's a different take is called Conscience and Courage. It's about people who rescued Jews during the Holocaust. It's written by the daughter of a man who was saved during that time, before he went to fight with the partisans.
I've also skimmed through Maus, a comic set during the Holocaust.

In middle school we read the book The Diary of Anne Frank and I was blown away with it. I was so involved into the book that I would actually read ahead after school, which was very unlikely of me at the time. In class we finished the book and then watched the movie. As much as I enjoyed the movie, I enjoyed the book much more. In fact I've read it three more times since middle school and its a book that I'll never get rid of.

I have also read the Diary of Anne Frank, as well as The Rise and fall of the Third Reich. Anne Frank is very moving, very poignant and a personal look at the horrors of the Holocaust. "Rise & Fall" is a good historical look of the Third Reich.

Thankyou for your response! Rise and fall doesn't really sound like a book that would interest me, but I appreciate your response!

I read "The Diaries of Anne Frank" and a book written by "Corrie Ten Boon." It was so horrific. But, I also got a lot of stories first hand from my mom. It was a nightmare you cannot believe.

Hi dopeygirl, yes I have read many books on the Holocaust. My mom and I are the only ones in the entire family that have such an interest in research on this topic. Many books I read are by Corrie Ten Boom and you need to check out this site http://www.annefrank.com/0_home.htm I ordered a cd-rom from them and it is great. Everything is on this cd-rom and they have created a 3D walk through of the house where they went into hiding. You actually feel like you are walking through the building. It is called Anne Frank House CD-ROM: A house with a story. Watching this will triger evey emotion you have in your body. I also have some books that a friend purchased for me in Auschwitz when she toured the concentration camp.

Yes I have, but I tell you it wasn't easy. I have read The Diary of Anne Frank, I have read the story about the lady who kept them in the attic all that time; her story came out some years ago; I also read about a young black man whose mother was German and father was African; I believe he was Liberian; That was Destined to Witness by Hans Massaqoui; very good book by someone who basically saw Nazism unfold before him.
