I give $100 or more, if he / she is a very close relative of me. But for occassional or casual friends sending invitations, it may vary from $2 to $10. And like that much I think all around me contribute. What I think is that amount of money is not the matter. The real sense of friendship and the pureness in invitation is of most importance in maintaining a good social relationship always. Money is just a token contribution to make friends feel that we are also associating with them on such a special occassion carrying higher expenditures for him. Thanks.

that depend on the relationship of the friend.
if he/she is a closed friend, I will give about $ 100, if he/she is only a normal freind, I will only give about $12 to him/her.
and I also will consider how much other one give her, I will not give too more than others and will not too less.

Over here in Singapore, the average is about $80. But it really depends on the venue where the wedding will be held. If it's held at a posh hotel, we would normally give around $100 per person and if it's your best friend who's having the wedding, the price can get higher.
All said, it really depends on you. The customs of giving money in a wedding is an old one concerning giving face and lessening the burdens of the wedding couple.
