Do Avatars really represent our personality ..?

Sometimes people select avatars to reflect who they are... but sometimes they pick one that is totally different from their identity. A shy teenage girl may pick a masculine warrior avatar, for example. Or on Mylot you see many young men choosing atractive actresses for their avatar.

One selects avtaar as per one's choice ,and that reflects the user/s personality because,we have certain reasons behind choosing avtaar.Some post their own pictures ,I think they want to be seen disclosed,and open to all.I don't mean if one doesn't post ones picture he is hesitant to disclose himself,but here he or she may have setteled at back of ones head to post a particular avtar.At sub concious level one has a objective of posting ones avtaar that can be read by anyone using ones concious.Dark gaudy pictures depict tendency of aggression and boldness.Whiteness,blueness,greenness show serenity and calm.cartoons show jocular humour and tendency to attract others.There are other plenty conclusion that can be derived.

My avatar is my dragon curled protectively around the earth. I love this image, the dragon is my favourite mythological creature and although some people might like to try and figure out why I chose this image, all I can say is it is a beautiful piece of artwork.

Yes indeed. Our avatars speak a lot about us. I spent about two weeks thinking aboutn a suitable avatar for me, and ended up choosing the picture of my pet bird. Some of my freidns have expressed their views on it in response to a discussion I started about my new avatar. they seem happy about it, and so am I.

I think your avatar is more of a coinsidence than a reflection of your personality and i think that because its just a picture and a personality is so much more than just that one picture.

I chose an avatar that says something about me, but not everyone does that. Some people don't even select avatars at all, and leave their avatar window blank. I don't decide whether an avatar represents the person behind it until I have gotten to know that person better.

I think the avatar does tell you something about the person that selected. It may be something funny....that would tell me the person has a funny sense of humor. Or it may be a pretty girl a guy admires. It could also be a handsome guy a girl admires. For others it may just be a picture they like.

Your photo looks you are sexy. Do you really feel so? Then why do you reluctant to put your photo? why are u using alternatives? This avtar shows that you are not confident your status and you want to attract more boys to your responses and they should add you as friend? Isnt it? You seems to be not eligible for starting this kinda discussions.

Till recently my avatar, though I changed it twice, was my face itself. I changed it to the present one few days back. I was very much cautious in selecting it. Yes, for sure, it has something to go with my personality, my thoughts and my aesthetics. Thank you for asking.

I think they represent our personality because each avatar was chosen by the person who's avatar it was. Mine is just a picture of me, so it doesn't say much about my personality, but if I were to choose something different it would be a reflection of something I like, such as a picture of a scene from one of my favorite movies or something. So your avatar could also be a reflection of something you like, and not necessarily your personality.

Our likes & dislikes express ourself (not 100% but express a lot). So, Avator really may be a factor for representing our personality. If someone view your profile.. then firstly one will look to your avator & after looking Avator s/he will make a sense about you. Then s/he may wish to read your discussin or not. Although, it is not a matter for you..who pass your profile.. But I want to say everybody likes beauty & I am not exception from them. Personally speaking.. Your Avator is so sweet. And I have attracted by your Avator & took decission to view your profile...

well, i chose my own pic as an avatar. i don't want to be a mystery to anybody, i want people to know me for who i am and not what they might think i am. by the way, i love your avatar. have a wonderful day, federickp =P

My avatar doesn't represent my personality. It's just that I love cats and specially those puffy, flufy, persian cats as this one from my avatar now:).
