Help i cant play videos on my pc...

I just reformatted my HD and reinstalled the drivers for my video card..... now when i go to watch videos.... my computer goes EXTREMLY SLUGGISH. i really need help cause i make movies... please help
(also is there a way to change PDF files to JPEG files for free?)
