which do you think is the best epic movie?

i'm interested in epic movies these years,such like troy,gladiator,benhur,300 warriors,the lord of the rings,the list goes on and on.as for epic movies,the tpic will always be some heros use their power and wisdom to do something extrodinary even sometimes influence our history,so which do you think is the best epic movie you've ever watched?

I also lean heavily toward Gladiator. I think it was just a fantastically made film. I also liked Mel Gibson's film The Patriot about the American civil war. There are a couple of Kevin Costner Films I enjoyed as epics too; The Postman and Dances with Wolves were both very good.
I think i like these films because you really feel like you've watched a movie, rather than sat infront of any Hollywood garbage.

I'm a big Ridley Scott fan, so I'm prejudiced in favor of Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven. I think about Lord of the Rings more as a fantasy, but of course it's also an epic, so it's way up there on my list. I haven't seen 300 yet, have to wait till it's on DVD, but I'm looking forward to it.
