I like Jane Austen very much. I find she is a very clever writer and her novels are universal images of virtues and defects of humanity. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favourite books and I have read all Austen's novels in Italian. I have recently started reading her novels in English, too. Do you like her? Which is your favourite novels and or character? By the way, I have just met with a wondeful place for Jane Austen's fans..it is www.pemberley.com. It is worth a look!!!

I really like reading jane Austen's books. She was a very talented author. I like the way she describes family relationships. Her characters are very interesting. I like the way she makes them speak. My favourite of her books is Pride and Prejudice. I like to heroine Elizabeth Bennet and the hero Fitzwilliam Darcy most of all. Others books that she has writen that I like are Emma, Persuasion, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey.
I live in the UK and I would love to visit Jane Austen's old house in Hampshire. In Bath there is also a tourist attraction that connected with her life. Christmas is the time of year the television company put on film adaptations of her books. The costumes they use are lovely and I think they are worth watching. I prefer to read the books themselves however.

Hi Maribea, tanks for the link.I'm fun of Jane Austen and I don't even remember how many times I readied the pride and Prejudice.I first readied when I was a young girl and since then I did it many times but all at Greek of course.
I also watch the movie the old one from BBC and the new one.It was very good but not as the book. After all always the books are better than movies.
PS: Do you know any other from her books be movie?

oh yes my friend...there are two other books of hers that were adpated as movies and they are ...Sense and sensibility with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet and I think this is quite good, surely better than the Pride and Prejudice movie that we recently saw in the cinemas..and then there is Emma, with Gwyneth Paltrow..fresh but as usual...the book is much much better

since my childhood, i have been reading Jane austen's abridged versions of novels and finally when i read the original version in English i am struck with awe at the simplicity with which she narrated the involvements and character of daily life. i am ardent fan of the author. i have read pride and prejudice, Emma, Mansfield park, sense ans sensibiities. i like Emma and pride and prejudice a lot. all of her novels have a similar kind of flavor with subtle comic hint yet so deep in thought and values.
thanx for the referral site, it was a pleasure going through the page.
thanx maribea, have a nice day.

I love Jane Austen. A couple of years ago, I read every one of her books, one after another. My favorite is "Mansfield Park," with "Pride and Prejudice" a close second. I love the "Pride and Prejudice" version with Keira Knightly just a few years ago. I've seen it a couple of times, and it was just as good the second time seeing it (lovely settings in the film). I haven't seen "Emma" on film, but there is also a film version of "Mansfield Park," although, alas, not as good as the book. In the US, they also sell Jane Austen action figures! You can buy them online. That's how popular Jane Austen is, even in the States.

That's ok, to each his own. One movie I was also going to mention is "Bride and Prejudice," which is an Indian interpretation of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" along with all the Bollywood dancing. It's fun to see all the different interpretations of her great books. I think you can say that it's literature that will last forever.

Thank you for sharing the link.
I have read all Jane Austen novels and liked them all a lot. Guess I'm sort of a Jane Austen fan LOL. :)
My favorite book I think it is Persuasion but I also liked Sense and Sensibility a lot. Oh, and how could I forget about Emma :)

i must confess my partiality because I am in love with Pride and Prejudice so I am not saying anything but that you need to understand the age in which the book was written and the written and spoken laws of the good society of that age if you want to understand every thing..and I hope you can then read it in English..it is surely the best way to appreciate it

I have read Pride and Prejudice both in Chinese and English.Comparatively, English edition is more funny. Because Jane writted in English, you can only enjoy the details in reading English.

I've read all of her novels, some of them several times. In fact, I may start them all over again as soon as I finish with my current author obsession. I suppose it's trite, but Pride and Prejudice is my favorite, because the characters are so well developed. I also have the TV miniseries with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, and love to sink into the atmosphere and settings. I know people like the version with Keira Knightley, but I doubt that I'll ever watch it. She's pretty lightweight as an actress, and a movie length version just won't do it for me. A long book deserves more than two hours.

I think she writes beautiful novels. I think she is a great writer and I would defently say I am a fan. Even a small one. I sometimes wish I could be like her. Writing books and getting paid and all else. In the old times when people had no tvs, or computers, and just wrote and such. It would be very good indeed.

I like her novels too. Pride and Prejudice is of course very famous but i also like Emma. In fact the best thing about her books is you can read them again after some time and discover something you missed the first time.

I've only read 'Pride and Prejudice' and although I found it hard to read because of the way it was written, the story fascinated me and I've seen several different versions of it on film. She was ahead of her time in her thinking and how she perceived women. Nice website too!

I have to admit that i find Jane Austin very hard to read. I love the stories and have every version of every novel as a TV drama or movie but i find the novels themselves too confusing. There are too many people who go by the same names and i just can't keep track of who is who. I've heard this is why men find it difficult to read Austin, maybe i just have a manly brain?

i have never thought about this problem with names..maybe you talking about the habits of calling the first daughter with the name of her father and the others with their Christian name..well, at first it may be confusing but then once you become accustomed to reading them, you'll find an easy way through such a humorous and clever writing..
