'It is now getting colder in Australia and I am getting lazier,i always set the alarm at 6:30 am but i will stop the alarm and sleep for half an hour more, but i will have to rush to the bathroom after i really wake up or i will be late.
I am sure I will have more problem when it is in July when the temperature will be like 10 degree or so at the morning,I think I need to set the alarm at 5:30 at that time,I had been late for two hour once because I overslept.'
How about you? Do you need to set the alarm so that you can wake up on time?
Do you stop the alarm when it alerts and sleep for a bit more? Do you 'struggle at the bed and get up? Have you ever overslept and being late at work or appointment?
Do you have any ways to ensure you will not overslept?Do share you thoughts:))

I always get up, but I have a system that wakes me up. I set my alarm clock for one time, then I set my cell phone alarm for exactly 5 minutes after that. My alarm clock is right by my bed, and my cell phone I keep charging across the room. That way, I have to physically get up to turn the alarm off. It works best, tahtw ay i can't just roll over and go back to sleep.

If there are something I must do and i'll get up on time. If just dating someone i may turn off my alarm and sleep again.
Usually if i have to wake up on time, i'll set the alarm 1 hour before i have to wake, it's because i would turn off the alarm but i can wake up automatically after 1 hour. LOL

Sorry to hear that you are suffering from insomnia, have you seeked any medical advice to solve it? When i cannot sleep,i will try to take a hot water bath and drink a bottle of warm milk, then i will massage at the front of my head and two sides of my eyes, most of the time,i will feel sleepy soon, may be you can try and see whether it works or not.
Good luck and hope you can sleep better later on.

nah hot bath or drinking milk before sleep ain't doing much helps to be frank. Insomnia is a long-term disease caused by several components of physical inadaptability. therefore you will need professional advices as the only source of help

If I have an appointment, it would almost always be in time. I believe in being punctual - so much so that I would take steps to ensure that I will definitely wake up the time I need to.
But if not, I find my sleeping time tied to the time I sleep. I am trying to correct my sleep cycle, failing for umpteen times already. I have not given up yet, I am going to try... again.

This is a real problem for me. I have a tendency to sleep late, normally around 1am or 2am and I get up around 8am. I'll be lethargic the whole day and that's really not good but I'm just so used to this. Sometimes if I just doze off a little more, I'll be really late for work.

Some people can sleep for 6hours but they can still be comfortable with it but other people may still want to sleep more even they have slept for ten hours,i always wonder why is it like that.
May be you can take a nap at the lunch time so that you can 'recharge'yourself in the middle of the day.

i found this bizarre too due to the fact some folks are always full of vitality however as for me, i always feel dozy and lack of sleeps no matter how much i snooze or the better sleeping pattern i accustomed to manage. despondent innit!

I have overslept work one time in my life and thats it. I usually jump out of bed when the alarm goes off, coz I know that if i stay in bed i will not get up at all =)
Usually my bf and i will get up at the same time, take a shower and have breakfast together before he takes of to work (i will usually start later) When he is gone I will watch some tv and do some surfing. I guess i could sleep longer, but that would probably make me more tired instead.

For most of my life it seems I always woke to the alarm clock at 6:00AM. Got out of bed no later than 20 min later. I can remember hating it some mornings and dreaming of retirement when I could put the clock away.
Well I am there. Let me tell you something....it is everything I thought it would be. LOL I schedule everything I need to do no earlier that 10:00am. And I am loving it.
So I guess my solution for you is to retire. LOL!
I have to comment on the rest of what you say. First time I have ever heard someone talk about the weather in the southern hemisphere. I live in the center of the United States. Seems like we had a very hard winter....even though it wasn't all that bad. We are now enjoying fantastic weather. Temps mid 70"s.
To hears someone talk of 10 degrees in July is very strange to me. HA! I have never been anywhere in the southern hemisphere so have nothing to relate to except common knowledge. But thank you for sharing this. Yup! I am easily entertained. LOL!

The weather here in my country is more bearable now than last month. Still a little hot and humid but with the rain pouring every afternoon, its a welcome sight than the hot weather.
No matter how tired and weary I am, I needed to rouse myself up at 6 in the morning. I don't even need an alarm clock anymore. I normally tend to all my tasks before noontime. It has been my habit for many years now. Honestly speaking, I would gladly accept a whole week of sleeping if there is an offer like that.
PS: Hi easy, I'm wondering why you deleted me from your list before. I kept thinking back if I have offended you in any other way but can't come up with one. That's why I'm kind of nervous responding here. Hope you won't mind.

Thanks easy. I didn't delete you. I have three friends including you who was wiped out from my list without my knowledge. That's why I got confused that time. The other two requested themselves again that day. I think its that "glitch" again. Sorry about that.

Easy i wish i was in Australia right now, the last time i have been there i enjoyed so much, and i love winters, here it is hot as hell right now.
I never oversleep, i always set my alarm clock and wake before it rings.
I love the winter days, and i love being awake and in bed, but i think it is somthing in my education, we were thaught that we should never be late for anything, so all of my family is just like me, we always wake in time.

I usually go to bed at around 12midnight and I need to be up at 5am for my 6am shift at work. Yes, I need an alarm clock! Can't survive without one. Funny thing is, I'd always sleep just a little more like 15minutes before I'd actually get up and start my day. Ang guess what? I'm almost always early or on time for my appointments! I'm actually trying to figure out a way to be a little late! Harharhar!

Fortunately, my body clock has gotten used to it. It was hard at first but then I work 3shifts so I have plenty of time to rest in between.

I set the alarm every night. Most mornings I am awake before it goes off. I never hit the snooze button. I get up,go to the bathroom, and then make my husband his coffee. I used to put the alarm clock on the oter side of the bedroom so that you had to get out of bed to hit snooze. Once your out of bed its easier to just stay up. I'm never late for anything. I hate being late.

True,it may be a good idea, but in the cold winter,i am afriad i will ignore the noise and cover my head with the quilt and sleep again.lol.
I also hate being late,I think that was the only time i had been late at work.I was ashamed.
So are there any snows in your city in winter,as i know, you are living in Detroit?

hey you live in australia? which part? i went to sydney and canberra few years ago. loved it:D ..anyways, i've overslept before and that resulted in me being late to work. usually i will set my alarm 15 minutes earlier, like if i wanna get up at 7am, i'll set it at 6.45am. i will always try to make sure that i keep on pressing the 'snooze' button, until i get really get up. the noise of my alarm clock irritates me, so that will wake me up. and if i use my mobile as my alarm clock, i'll set it to some loud funky song heheh.:)

For me my husband sets the alarm for 1 time and I will wake up before it goes off and reset it for a latertime and no matter what when the alarm goes off Ihave no choice but to get up because then my cats tend to come running in and wanting attention because they know I am getting up.
So I am always ontime.

Hi easy888! I rarely get up on time even when I do set the alarm clock. I end up sleeping an extra 30 minutes most times and then rush around getting ready if I have to be somewhere. Staying at home fulltime I tend to just take my time getting up and getting ourselves ready. When I use to work I had a routine and got up the same time each morning (well most of the time) and did what I had to do to get myself ready and out the door. Alarm clocks are good when I need to be somewhere early the next morning, or else its just sleep in time for me LOL

One of the things that have improved in my life is that i no longer need to get up at a certain time - at least most days. I hate having to set an alarm clock.
in the past I have overslept several times. It is a horrid feeling to wake up, panic, and have to run to work or school. Ruins the entire day. I used to have to have three alarmclocks set some minutes apart. I would also have to place the clocks out of my reach so that I had to get out of bed to turn them off.

God, do I have a problem with oversleeping! I'm used to spending very late nights. I work very late in my computer lab. My room is situated just two floors above the lab, so I'm often in the lab, very late into the night. Often, I'm busy with assignments or work, but it's not uncommon that I'm just watching a movie or spending time on mylot! I retire very late, sometimes past four AM and so, becomes quite a challenge to wake up in the morning to be in time to grab my breakfast and attend my classes. I do set the alarm, but invariably end up switching it off and oversleeping! Many a times, I end up having to choose between my breakfast and my shave, and so, quite often end up with a day old stubble. Sometimes more!!! I tell myself that I ought to be more disciplined, but you know how these things are!

I used to sleep very soundly before my little one was born.Once I concieved,I lost all sleep, that is a whole different story LOL..anyway,so I always used to have to set the alarm to wake up.I need to have atleast 8 hours sleep or else I feel groggy all morning.Generally,I go to sleep early, around 9 or 9.30 PM and wake up at 6.As a student, waking up at 6 am was a pain but now that I am a stay at home mom,I can afford to go to sleep once my husband and kid leave for work and nursery respectively. But these days I find that mental determination is enough for me to wake up on time.I only have to think strongly that "I have to wake up at a certain time".In such cases,I am always awake a few minutes before I am supposed to be up.For instance,we were planning a day trip outside town, and we had to wake up really early, like 5 AM.That day,I woke up at 4.45AM,so now I trust my body clock better than the alarm.Waking up suddenly from sleep does not agree with me as I tend to get headaches.

i usually oversleep...that is why i decided to set the alarm in my mobile 1 hour before the time that i should wake up...this way, i am assured that i will wake up..in my mobile, i can set 5 different times... i use all of them...starting from one hour before the time until the 5 minutes after the time...so that would be like 15 minutes in between each setting...inspite of all of these preparations, i still oversleep sometimes...hahaha
