I am facing an inevitable dilemma. People tell me "get her on the pill". I don't want to be giving her a "license to drive without protection" My approach is to educate her on protection and the importance of protection. Then maybe later on if she finds someone that she wants to date then maybe think about the pill. Any suggestions from someone who has been through this?

Many young females need to take birth control pills in order to have a regular period. I had to do this. The pill also helps clear up acne and relieves menstrual symptoms. I would explain to her that even if she would be on the pill, she can still get pregnant and it does not protect her from any STDs. If she knows all of the risks involved, she may not be as likely to be irresponsible.

This is a great topic as I will be facing it in about 8 years I hope not sooner. I have to girls that will be teenagers around the same time, my youngest daughter however it seems is the one I may have to worry about. My oldest seems to awkward and tomboyish. But I would say talk to her about see what she thinks, I am sure that she is a smart and responsible girl.
