When I was a child, I was so afraid of the dark that I always leave a lampshade on. I can only sleep without lights on if I was with somebody in the same bed. I totally got over it just when I was 9 yrs. old when moved to a new house and my room was in the middle of my parents room and my sister's room, which I thought I was safe. When you were a kid, did you sleep with lights on or off? Where you afraid sleeping alone?

I had to sleep with the hallway light on or a nightlight on. I got over this when I moved into my first apartment when I was seventeen because the street light outside was very bright and, even though the shades were drawn, the room was very well lit. Then, in my next apartment, I didn't even think about it because I had already broken myself of the habit of turning a light on before bed.

It is strange how we fear the dark - there is no logical reason for it, baddies can get you just as easily in the light as the dark!
I have always been happy alone in the dark for as long as I can remember back. I was always taught never to fear the dark.
