I was talking to my husband about the best age to start our daughter on an allowance. I think that once she is able to take some kind of responsibility she should get and allowance. I do not think that it has to directly coincide with doing chores, but her overall behavior. I was think 5 years old is a good age. As well we would have two different jars for her to put her money in. One is savings and one is spending money. Our bank is not a traditional bank so we do everything online. So when she puts money in the savings jar we will deposit the money from our accounts into hers. I think that it is important to start smart money usage early. How about you?

My daughter is 4yrs old, she just started getting an allowance from her father & I because we were having a hard time getting her to clean her room so we just deciced to pay her $2.00 if she would clean her room. It worked within an hour her whole entire room was spotless, I was so proud of her. She felt like a big girl when she put her money in her piggybank. So yes I do agree children should get some type of allowance to show them how to handle money so when they get older they have knowledge as to how it should be spent.

That is perfect to me. I mean some parenst feel that giving allowance for chores is bad, because they should do their chores without " bribery" persay. To me I think it shows that you earn what you work for. Thanks for your response.
