So I own a border collie/german shepard and the man that lives to the house on the left has a dog that my gets zoned out on and will not listen to me when the other dog is out. He will run along the fence and bark at the other dog. I know he wants to play and its maybe a "yard" thing and I dont mind it to much but its the not listening part I dont like. As well the man that lives on the right of me is scared of my dog has threatened my dog with a 2by4 peice of wood, yelled to me that he was going to file a complaint because my dog's barking is an anoyance to him and made a point of telling me that he is going to be around in his yard alot in the summer any sugestion? Help!

My dog used to do the same thing when the neighbors do was out.He is pibull/dalmation mix and very hyper. He also would not listen to me when the other dog was out.So what I did was probably weird but it worked. When the other dog was out I would out mine on a leash and walk it over to the fence.I would make him stay, sit, etc.I acted as if I was training him all over again. This took a couple of weeks. Now when he goes out and sees the other dog and starts acting goofy he does come to me.But I need to give him a treat.

Cool thanks, why didn't I think of that. Thats how I train him so it makes sence. You know I tried that with his jumping up though and just couldnt get it to work. He s better but still does it. I gonna try it.

I think my dog is the "King of Jumper Uppers".Every one that comes in my yard you here "GET DOWN".I think he thinks they come here to see him.He won't leave anyone alone.

So are you saying that your dog won't listen to you when he is barking? Perhaps when the other dog is outside, you can take yours inside for a while. Maybe put him on a leesh so he can't 'run along the fence and bark at the other dog'. I would also tell the man to the right, that if ever comes close to your dog with a weapon that you will call the police for animal abuse.
This is a tough situtaion. Good luck.

As for the 2 dogs like i said i dont mind to much but i wish there was a way that i could get him to listen as well as letting him socialize Im workn on it. and yes I did tell him that i would call the police if he touchs my dog but its just gonna be difficult during the summer
