Yesterday as I sat on my porch awaiting the mothersday festivities to begin, I sat quietly as it might be my last bit of piece and quiet all day lol. A few weeks prior I had done my faithfull following of hanging out the hummingbird feeder,we have just moed to this house in the fall so i had no idea if there were any in the area as it is a rule setting I also had purchased a Bleeding heart hanging flower and had it up not far from the feeder.
Low and behold as I sat and watched, in he dived looking for that sweet flavor of necter they love so.
I am so glad i had my camera with me and caught this shot of him so I could share with you. I love to watch them they have such beauty and grace, I am sure in time he will be bringing his friends for a drink as well.
enjoy the picture.

When my mother finally moved back from California, her greatest lament was that she could not get the hummingbirds to come to her home here. She swore it was the fuschias she had hanging that brought her little friends to see her, but that didn't work here in Michigan. I know she really missed watching them when she moved. I don't think the little trivets or suncatchers we gave her as gifts replaced this pleasure.

great shot! you don't get this kind of photo shoot always.
i use to watch small birds playing around beyond my tinted glass window. i could see the details of their colorful feathered bodies. and i would take a chair and sit there watching them for a long time. i've never thought of taking a photo though.
