I would say to drop linux, and install windows if you have it. All of that stuff is compatible with windows, and was built to be used with windows. the only ones that will work are the internal adapters.

This can really be a problem with Ubuntu, and I had to cheat to get mine to operate.
I tried Ndiswrapper and followed the instructions to the letter, but to no avail despite numerous attempts. I even used several different copies of the driver since it refused to accept them.
Fortunately I am also using Mandriva, in which installation was easy. I opened the firmware folder in Mandriva and copied the installed files, them copied them into the firmware folder in Ubuntu, which finally solved the problem.
If you are using Ubuntu only then I can only suggest that you keep checking all the forums, although it is very frustrating reading instructions that do not work.

*********d-link********
i 2 had a problem.........all internet access using windows of any kind should be completely removed...un-installed...for what ever reasons, windows, will block your ability to access wireless...so if you un-install and go to the registry and remove " carefully" only the items
concerning d-link, funk, odessey, just to name a few....
and then do not push in d-link until the software disc is in the cd-rom and running...when you see the bar....................push it in and with-in sec...you'll be wifi right along.......dont name it let it do all the work...dont save it cause every day it changes...
happy wifi

Dude, I can't guarantee that you'll ever get it working. Wireless USB adapters are extremely hard to get working in Linux. It took me 3 days of nonstop hunting and fighting with my old laptop to get the wireless USB adapter working in Ubuntu. Download mIRC and go to the Ubuntu chatroom there. It may be hard to get an answer since there are 1000 noobs and maybe 10 experts there, but that's how I got help. I honestly don't think Ubuntu is worth the pain. I'd switch back to windows if I were you.

Hi there, try2fly.
The Ubuntu Website has a list of all the drivers for products, and how they work with your release.
Here's the link, with instructions:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsWirelessNetworkCardsDlink
However, if you don't have the time to learn how to install it, I suggest just buying: USB wifi Orient XG-701A.
