Have you ever driven after drinking?

There was a stop point in our town today...where the police were stopping everyone going down the road. They were checking for registrations, licenses, seatbelts and alcohol. The person ahead of me, who I thought was driving fine, was pulled over and given a sobriety test. Since we were going across the street to get some gatorade before going to my little boys baseball practice...I witnessed the cops handcuffing and hauling off this woman who had 2 kids in the car! I would never have guessed it, she couldn't have had much to drink..but I saw it happen! DONT GET ME WRONG...ANY ALCOHOL AND DRIVING SHOULD NOT MIX, and I have to admit..when I was waaaaayyyyyyy younger, I would have a couple of drinks and then drive home. Now that I am older, and know better, I choose not to do this. So, be honest like me...Have you ever had a drink and then took the wheel?

I have had a few drinks before getting behind the wheel. I happened to be the most sober of the bunch at the time. I would never however drink while I have children in the car. I make sure if my child is with me and there is drinking at a function I stay sober. I do not agree with that, and even when they are not with me and I go to meet friends for drinks, if I know I am driving or will be driving I will limit myself to very light drinks and only a couple in a couple of hours and I drink lots of water as well. I don't like to take chances like that. I fear hurting others more than I fear hurting myself.

I am much like you, when I was younger I was a complete idiot. Drinking and driving was not the high profile crime that it is today. There were too many times that I got lucky when driving home while wayyy past my reasonable limit. Stupid lucky is likely all that kept me from killing myself and others. Nowadays, I take a cab whenever there is a remote chance I might drink.

NEVER!!! I witnessed a road traffic accident caused by a drunk driver and when I learnt to drive I swore I would never, ever, have a drink and then get behind the wheel of a car.

I admit that I have had a drink and then drove myself home. I have never drank then drove with my children in the vehicle. I am also really careful not to drink more then one drink before I drive. I had a brother who was killed by a drunk driver when he was just 17. It was a month before he was due to graduate from high school. This man didn't even have the guts to tell my parents he was sorry. This happened when I was just 5 years old. My parents made it a point to remind us what could happen if we were to make such a mistake.

No, I never have! I rarely drink however. I have never been drunk in my life. And, nah if I had a drink I wouldn't ever drive. No sense in risking myself or others when a cab or a friend is just a phone call away!!!

Truly speaking I don't drink and never had that experience.Drinking leads to overdrinking and that's and open invitation to heart , liver and other complicated disease..I have seen people going out of control after drinking and drunk driver is the failed driver. That's the secondary question wheather one can drive and how would be acted upon by people if one is drunk, the first thing is will person reach home safely without any mishap on road?

Not since the 1970's. That was before the major changes in the laws with the increases in fines and costs. I would never take the chance now, but then I don't drink. You never can tell on the road who might be driving drunk. That is the scary part. So many drive under the influence, and not just with drinking, that the driver next to you could be one of them and you would never know.

there have been times when i have been stoned and driven my bike and the next day i have imagined how did i even reach my place.that was back in college and this used to happen very regularly.we didnt have any strict checkups then and so we didnt worry much then.when i think of it now i know it was madness because something bad might have happened.i never drink and drive nowadays because it only takes a fraction of a second for something to happen.

In my younger days, my friend and i would go out and drink and then I would drive. But my drinking consisted of two drinks. lol So I doubt I was drunk. My ex hubby would do it all the time. He got so many DUI's it was awful. The last one he got I told him either the booze went or I went. He chose the booze over me.So we are not together because of it. He still drinks. I have told my boys not to ride with him if he has been drinking. They won't.My oldest son does drink on occasion but he does not go over board. He will not drive when he is drinking either.

I usually don't drink and if I do it isn't very much but on New Years Eve 1999/2000 I did drive a little distance with more than my usual amount to drink. Since the place we celebrated the Millenium was almost 40 miles from my home we booked a motel room - and I drove across a bridge at a very slow pace to get to the motel. If the police arrested this woman after breathalizing her then she had to be over the limit and I think she should have been arrested for driving in that condition with kids in the car.

drinking and driving is pretty much murder. people who want to drive drunk should just swallow their keys instead of ever thinking about it. they should just get a friend who will be a designated sober driver and then everyone is happy and no lives are at stake.

I don't drive so can honestly answer no! However I remember when I was younger my parents going to the pub and then driving us all home! It's amazing how much the law has changed in the last twenty five years! In regards to drinking and driving I would say for the better.

I've had driven drunk may times. Most of the time with my friends. I've never been on a car accident up to now. I guess I'm just lucky. Many times I just wake up on my bed the day after not even knowing how I got home. LOL. I guess when you drink and drive better do it alone. That woman with 2 kids is crazy. She risks the lices of her children by doing that. Pathetic!
