I haven't had a chance to watch too many good scary movies lately. Kind of hard to do when you have so many young ones around. As a kid I loved them. So many of them scared me that have trouble just picking one. So I guess I ahve to give the top two that are equal in my eyes. Children of the Corn and Nightmare on Elm Street (I can't remember which part though, it was either part one or two- never got any farther than those two).

For me, the best scary movies are Asian, especially Japanese and Korean ones. I don't know why, but their style is just really good. They can do that creepy atmosphere thing.
There's this movie my friend and I saw called THE EYE. It's about a blind girl who got a new set of eyes, but those eyes used to belong to someone who could see ghosts. So she also see ghosts. It was really creepy. There was one scene when she was writing and she looked up and this long-haired girl in white just flew straight to her! We screamed the whole time.
THE RING TRILOGY (Japanese version) is also really freaky. Really. I didn't have nightmares or anything, but it was just... yikes. It's about this VHS tape. When you watch it, you have 7 days to make copies and send it to others in order to not die. If not, this creepy long haired little girl with no eyes and bleeding nails gets out of the TV and kills you. My friend couldn't be left alone with a TV set for days and days.

My husband is a huge horror movie fan so I think I see them all, but my most recent favorites have been Silent Hill, The Descent and Feast...though Feast has some very disturbing, not really horror scenes.
The best one ever, in my opinion, was Teh serpent and The Rainbow, scary voodoo stuff that is more scary 'cause it could happen..not just silly made-up monsters.
And, I adore zombie movies...all of them.

I'm with you I love all the scarey movies out right now. But if I had to pick a favorite I might say.
The Omen is one of my favorites and then there is also Amittyville Horror House.
But my all time favorite would have to be Texas ChainSaw.

I can tell you the only scary movie that i watched that acually gave me nightmares and made me lose sleep over was "The Grudge" I dont by any means concider it my favorite it was just horrifing for me, my friends think i am crazy. And I refuse to watch "The Grudge 2" "The Ring" was pretty scary i never saw the second on that either. So my favorite scary movie is "Rose Red" by Steven King
