Let me begin by saying that I suffer from depression chronic and severe enough to be declared 100% disabled by the Social Security Administration. Lots of you know what a long, hard struggle it is to get disability payments. I'm not posting this to be a buttcake, or to put anyone down, or make them feel worse. I have read a lot of discussions here on myLot where people say they are so down, they don't feel like living even one more minute. At first, I would try to put a meaningful, supportive post, offering help and solace. After a while, though, I began to see a difference in some posts, some of them began to look like the originator was just fishing for replies. What do you think? Do people try to exploit other's desire to be helpful with this kind of discussion?

While I'm reasonably new to all this, it is interesting to discover the emotion and empathy you feel when you recognise someone else suffering in ways we ourselves have. Whether or not the posts are real, other people going through depression get to read the meaningful, supportive replies, which I believe are helpful to them. So, I believe it's worth the effort, real or not.

I am sure that a lot of the posts aren't real But that is the internet for you. That is like every girl is 5'5 with blonde hair and super skinny etc... on the chat sites. I post real discussions so I have nothing to be ashamed of. People should post real problems
