Coke Zero tastes much better than Diet Coke -- But why?

Anyone know why Coke Zero doesn't have that crappy aftertaste that Diet Coke does? Both have the same kind of artificial sweetner. I wish cola companies would start using Splenda so there is no compromise in taste.
Also, which do you prefer?
- Coke Zero
- Coke C2
- Diet Coke
- Diet Pepsi

I don't know that answer to that one. I don't really like diet coke or coke zero. I do like Diet Coke with Splenda but sometimes it tastes a little flat. I cannot stand Diet Pepsi. I love Diet Dr Pepper the best. As for Splenda sweetened diet colas, Diet RC and Diet Big Red are awesome. They are both Splenda sweetened and I cannot tell the difference between the diet and non diet versions. I believe that all the Diet Rite sodas are Splenda too. I know all Diet Shastas are Splenda. They are all really good too.

Hi vokey, the Diet RC available here at the local store is quite yucky with a really strong after taste. So I wonder when we are getting the Splenda version here. I do like C2, but that is half sugar, and I'd prefer no sugar at all... But sometimes, when I really want to indulge myself, I go for the C2. But normally, I am a Diet Pepsi kind of guy. I find that putting ice cubes in Diet Pepsi helps make it taste much better.

No Diet RC with Splenda? Where are you located?? It was one of the first drinks here in Dallas that we had available with Splenda in it. That and Diet Big Red. I forgot to mention that Diet 7Up now has Splenda too. I love Splenda.
I found cake mix and canned frosting in the store last night that is 50% less sugar. It has Splenda in it!! I had to buy it and I am going to bake it tonight. I hope it is as good as a regular cake with frosting.
