There are only 27,807 users on myLot!!!

Whoa, I just found out there are only 28,807 users on myLot, not the 92,000 + users that it says on the bottom left. Want to know how I found out? On the bottom left, I went to the "users by rating" link. This opens up pages of all the users on the site. Each pages lists 50 members, but only 556 pages of users are filled! What does this mean? 50 x 556 = 27,800 Page 557 has 7 members on it totaling 27,807. Check the page yourself, you'll see the other pages after 557 are blank. http://www.mylot.com/w/topusers/557/1//.aspx Which leads to the question....why does it say there are 92,000+ users? Where are the other 65,000 members at?

I'm not sure. I just opened up "users by rating" and there are 1842 pages with 50 users each page. That's gotta be right around 90000.

hmm.....this is a conspiracy. Well, I checked out "users by locations", and just adding up the countries that have more than 1000 members, I get 81000 users. So I'm sure with the rest of the countries, the total is close to the 90000. What do you think about that?

Actually, regarding the "rated" section, the last person with at least 1 response/post is on page 510 http://www.mylot.com/w/topusers/510/1//.aspx That means all the users from 510 to 557 have never posted (that makes approximately 47*50 or 2350 inactive users of 27000 etc.). THat's about 10%.

Wierd. I wonder why that is. Perhaps mylot has the capacity for the larger number of users.

I doubt that you will be killed for posting something on mylot, but it is against the mylot guidelines, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was deleted. I just checked, and all 1847(?) pages each have 50 users, that seems to be around 92,000 users.

It's a conspiracy! If this post gets deleted, and I am killed, please give my earnings to my family....

I just rechecked the myLot "users by rating" and now all the pages show members like you said. myLot must have just changed this, because before today, every page after 557 was blank. I contacted myLot about this and they told me those members were inactive and invisible. My discussion must have prompted them to change their site! Coolness.

I guess there are alot of people that has registred and never posted. I know for a fact that I have 3 referalls that never posted a thing. They should do a cleanup soon, and leave room for new people instead. I was pleased to see that I was on page number 2 though - I will fight hard to get on the first one now *Lol*

LOL yep, I saw they had them ranked-the first page had the people with the highest ranking and so on! So I was way back like page 7 or something. BOO!

This is unheard of actually. Do you actually care how many "active" or "inactive" members there are here? I have found that a lot of pages that contain many things in a list can only go as far as the servers allow in the first place. Maybe all the "zeroes" are because the pages after 557 can't hold anymore info? Thanks either way. I feel theres probably 20,00 inactive referrals listed as of the discussions I've seen members complaining that they have 10 referrals and only 1 is active etc. Then take the deleted accouints. Would myLot erase that amount also from the total? I'd think as a big corporation they'd keep them listed as it looks better having a huge number. Then if their is actually only 20 some thousand let's all head to the bosses office and ask for a raise. Hahaha! Have a great day. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That's what I'm saying.....it DOES look good for myLot to keep that larger number, but it's misleading. It leads people to believe that the site is 3 times more popular than it really is because only one third of those members have ever contributed something. I think they should reset the population number to the number of active users. In real life you don't count all the deceased people in the cemeteries as part of the population.

Could this be because many of the people who are members of MyLot have not posted for a certain peiod of time. I doubt that they would deliberately lie about the number of members and I figure at the end of the day it really doesn't concern me. I have more to do with my time. I would recommend you contact them and ask for an explanation if it really bothers you.

I don't know if it is deliberate or not. I just know when I signed up that I thought the web site had close to 100,000 users which makes the site appear more credible. In the end it doesn't really bother me either, but it doesn't seem to make much sense to me. I sent myLot a message asking about it to satisfy my curiosity. I'll let you know what they say.

Hmmm, interesting. However, it doesn't surprise me at all. The remaining 65k will probably be people who signed up with myLot but then never used it. That happens with everything online so it will happen here too. I know that none of the people I referred have done anything on here and I constantly hear others say the same thing. I would be very, very surprised if the 28,807 members are all currently active. Personally I would be amazed if more than 10k members were actively posting here at the moment. It's actually a very, very good thing you know - there's no way myLot could afford to be paying 90000 people every month!

I am sure that there are a lot of people here who have never posted, etc. that are counted in this number of people who have joined myLot. And at the same time, there are a lot of members now who never Post here anymore as well, so this is just a round figure. But if you are like me, and have Referals, you will know there are a lot of members who join and never Post, or only post like 3-4 responses if that, and then give up. It is a shame, as this site could be Fun for them, but people do lead other lives besides myLot as well too.

I posted on these lines a couple of months back - interesting stats! Do you also note that only about 2,500 members have posted over 500 - 550 posts which is about average for making the $10 payout limit. Obviously some have been paid out many times but this is 2,500 plus/minus since MyLot STARTED, not recently.

Oh yes, and I was going to add that the easy way of skipping 100's of pages at a time is to alter the number in your address bar in front of the .aspx so http://www.mylot.com/w/topusers/50.aspx (then 'enter') goes to page 50 of 50 members each and http://www.mylot.com/w/topusers/500.aspx goes to page 500 and so on.

I posted about this a couple of months ago. The 28,807 are the members who are active all the others have joined but not posted or have deleted their accounts.

Yeah, if they are inactive or deleted then the population number should reflect that. Wouldn't you agree?

This is a very informative discussion. I can be counted in the group of active because I come here everyday. It does give a person room to pause when the numbers under each user is 0. I agree with you as to the question of where are the other 65,000 members at. I went to the link you posted and it is strange. Thanks for this eye opening discussion.

not quite sure too but do you think that they meant by 92,000 members but only 27,000 + are active participating? not sure but maybe?

Yeah, the other 65,000 are inactive, but my point is that they shouldn't be counted in the population number because they are irrelevant users to the community.

Yeah.. I just checked.. You seem to be right. But, I'm in that 27000, so I guess, it doesn't affect me in any way.. But, then why do they give a wrong figure? Just to give a big image?

Well, I contacted myLot and they told me that the other 65,000 user were inactive and invisible, but I think they should reset the population number to the number of active users because it does seem to make the web site look like it is more active than it really is.

Well if you look at that link you posted its "top users" and that's what mylot told you as well. Those were just the active/top users. There is still the other 65K members, they just don't participate. Which doesn't suprise me, lots of people sign up for stuff and then forget about it, or never use it!

myLot told me they are inactive users...and that is why they don't appear anywhere. But if that is true, then they also shouldn't be counted in the population number.

They are probably on vacation, spending their riches from mylot. lol. Interesting numbers. I kind of thought that less than 50% we still active on here. It looks like less than 1/3 are still around. At this point, I can't argue with your findings.

well i was pretty sure that there are no mare than a few thousands active here and i think that the number is even less than what you have figured out.there are so many people who join and simply quit.i have a bunnch of people who were in my friends list who are no longer active.6 of my referrals are not active.they just signed in.so i figured i wasnt the only guy out there like this.so it shows 92000 + users meaning that there are so many registered here but not that many are active anymore.

Oh, what a discovery! Maybe the listings of how many members here in mylot includes those inactive ones and that they count you as one member after you sign in. Maybe they have deleted some of the members without updating the numbers of members....

This is the wrong way to measure users you must measur active users because thats what counts.
