I am just curious of how many of you here are generous enough to give money to loved ones or to friends especially during holidays and special occasions.
How important money is to you that it is hard for you to share it with others. I have seen other people how important money to them that it is so hard for them to share it. Is it that really hard to share money especially with your loved ones? For me, when I was still studying, I used to easily lend my allowance when my relatives and friends needs money. I don't have that much money but I just know how to save and I don't spend a lot as long that I have money for my daily expenses. Some of the money that I have lend never returned back to me so now, I am already careful in lending money. Now that I am already mature enough to value it. And when I have extra money, I just gave it to my cousins or buy them clothes and foods.
You, how do you deal when someone is borrowing money from you? Or do you give money to your relatives during holidays?

Yesh, i will lend the money...
Generally, im not a very generous person...
But when friends ask or wants to borrow money, i will lend them...
I mean, afterall, its so hard to decline...
I mean, they will have a hundred and millions excuses to want to borrow money from u, unless u have a hundred and millions excuses to decline, if not, wat are the chances that u can decline offering lending them money?
Right?
For me, when i lend them money, i dun expect or foresee myself getting the money back as i think chances of getting back the money is not high...
I tried a few times...
They never return...
N if its a bigger sum, when i hint them, they will say yah, they will return, just that they forgot, the next time will return...
But this next time never happens...
To family, im more generous...
=)
If they are in need, yesh of coz...

It is easier for me to give moneyt than it is for me to ask for any. If by chance I do have to ask for help, I make sure I pay them back right away, so as not to ruin the family bond or friendship.
If someone asks me for money, I usually give it without hesitation if I have it to spare, because it is good karma. I hope that if I am a happy giver that when I am in need the karma will flow back around my way.
I am notorious for giving people on the street money when they ask. Yes, I do know alot of them are scam artists, but if it is given in the right frame of mind and heart, then I don't think that it really matters. The bible says, that if we do it unto the least, then we do it unto him. I believe that.
I have found that the easiest way not to have hard feelings toward someone when you lend them money is, to not think of it as a loan, but as a gift. That way, if you do get it back, it is a bonus, it you don't, then you won't be upset about it. Helping others is its own reward.

It would depend on what they want the $$ for. If I have $$ to give to family then I would as long as they paid it back. I have had friends and family abuse this and now I am very careful when to lend and when not too. I don't have much money either but if I can help out in some way then I try to, sometimes it may not be $$ they ask for so I may be able to help them out that way!

If they were my relatives, it's alright for me because I understand their situation but if my friend is borrowing money from me, i will really think a lot before lending her because she always borrow money from me and always forget to pay it or how much she have borrow from me...

it depends on who want to borrow money from me for what. if my good friend want to travel during summer holiday, i would like to lend some money to him.but if my friend just want to borrow some money to entertainment, i absolutely deny it.
i believe in that my friend ask me lend money to him for some reasons.anyway,i will take the situation as consideration.

If a friend needs money I have no problem lending them after conferencing with my bf since we share the finances. He also has no problem with it. We need to help eachother to survive in this world =) I also know that the people will pay them back sooner or later.

I consider myself to be a generous person joice, but when it comes to lending money to friends of family members, I've learned over the years, it's not a good thing.
There usually has to be an underlying reason why family or friends think they need to come to me for money. If it's some kind of emergency I wouldn't concern myself much. The reason would be obvious, but, if it were $20 here or $40 there, I usually don't get involved in lending.
Nine times out of ten, it will only cause problems, especially if they have a tendency to borrow often or not pay the money back.
History has proven it's not a good practice. The Bible says, "Neither a borrower or a lender be...".
So I usually don't do either.

Yes, what you have said are all true. I am glad that at my age now, I have learned a lot of things already about lending money so I am just careful when lending money to others... I am also shy borrowing money from others and when I do, I see to it that I will pay on the date that I tell I am going to pay...

Hi,joice86!
It depends on the person who asked me for money.
I do lend my money to the person or my friend who I think he/she is trustworthy.I don't think my lending standards are strict but indeed,I have just lent my money to few people.
Before I lend my money to others,I will make a promise with him/her.I must make sure the what he/she wants to do with my money, and when he/she will return it to me.That's my standard. But when I ask the person"What do you want to do with my money?" The answer may be"Well,I just need your money for heip, please!"Well,in that case,I wouldn't let him/her get it.I just want a simple answer, but why he/she refuses to tell me? :(

when it comes to money issue, it could be hard.. in one side they might really need the money and in one side you need the money too. I always being careful in lending money. I ussually dont lend money when it is not too urgent. Because sometimes they maybe forgot to return the money back..so I will just reject and said that I dont have money too..

Thanks for that one. I am also like that now, even if I have money I don't lend them already because I will spend it also for my everyday expenses and I am already fed up with them, not returning my money back and forgetting that they owe me money. Now, I have learned my lessons. LOL

i don't lend money that easily. when someone asks me to lend him/her money because he/she forgot her wallet or something, i would lend the person money. but if the person asks a big amount, i don't easily give away my money especially when he is not one of my family and friends. i don't know what he/she will do with it. so i ask first what he will do with it. if the person really needs it and and he/she promised me that he/she will pay it, i would lend him/her the money. during holidays, my mom gives our relatives money as gifts. so, i don't give them money.

When the reason is good, I lend money to my loved ones or relatives. When I was still single, I easily lend money even to friends. Now that I am married and the money I have is not purely my own, I am very careful in lending to others. I have to seek the consent of my husband first.
It is good to lend money or give money to those who need it but we also must think twice especially when the borrowing of the money seems to be happening again and again. Sometimes we must stop ourselves from lending money to someone when we know that it is not doing them good anymore.
