my mom called me today and she told me that an old woman neighbour next to her passed away peacefully in her sleep.how do people know that dying in your sleep is peaceful?i mean no one has ever come back to tell us that it is.i'm wondering this because my grandpa also passed away in his sleep.i let my mind wander and i am wondering if it is really peaceful. i know this a bit weird but i would like to know everyone thoughts on it..

I think in that department yo can tell by the look on their faces. People that have had a heart attack might be frozen in a pained grimace. I have seen that, and even though they were in their beds and asleep when it happened, they were clearly woken, and it was not peaceful. On the other hand if they just slowly wind down and their breathing becomes mor shallow until it stops, I expect it would be evry peaceful and quiet. I hope that was the case for your grandpa.

I think that's the best way possibly enyone can dye and there can be no other way to die. I myself would love to die in my sleep, won't know also when did i die or what happend. It will be so different. But i feel that's the best possible way enyone can die.

I think dying is never peaceful. But dying in sleep is probably the least painful as the person does not endure much pain. I would think that burning or drowning would be the most painful and I would never want to go that way.

I believe I would lok at it like if I think about sleeping I am unaware of anything going on so if I was to die in my sleep it would be peacefull because thats how I am when I am sleeping peacefull.

i also agree you but if you compare with a car accident or an assassin it may seem and is a better way to dye...of course god knows who will die how but i would prefer to dye sleepin than some other option..don't you think?

I am not sure...but may be for some it is peaceful, may be for others its torturing cos i too have experienced that. The Docter says am suffering from 'dark phobia' where i always cannot sleep with a dark room. I need lights to sleep or make sure no hands strangle me but then suddenly one day i woke up in a hospital.Later they say i was sleep-dying...i dunno what that means but i felt nuthing except for the sweet feeling, peaceful with no more nightmares! In my dream i was passing many places and i was unconcious according to the medical terms for many mins!

I'm not sure. I think it will be a riddle for all of us living in the word. Maybe only when we ourselves to experience can we really know what it is.
