Do you prefer to use shampoo/conditioners seperately or in those 2 in 1 combo's?

I was using those 2 in one conditoners for awhile but I didn't like the way my hair always felt weighed down. It didn't feel the same as it did when I was using conditioners seperately from the shampoo.Since I have returned to using them seperately,my hair is softer and is a lot more shinier. What about you? What do you prefer when it comes to shampoo and conditioners?

i use separate shampoo and conditioners, the reason for this is simple (though not many people tend to take the time to think about this).
i was a hairdresser for a while after i left school, and i was learning about the effects of different products on the hair. it turns out that the reason separate shampoo and conditioners make your hair feel better is because:
shampoo is designed to take away all dirt that clings to the hair, it is meant to strip it down to just clean hair.
conditioner is meant to leave a residue coating on the hair, this is what makes it feel thicker and softer, and also why when your hair is conditioned, it has less knots in.
when shampoo and conditioner are combined in one bottle, the conditioner more or less gets cancelled out by the shampoo... so it kind of makes false econemy by buying the one bottle instead of 2.

I feel the same way as you. I used to use the 2 in 1 kind because I thought it was more convenient and would save money to only have to buy one bottle, but I've noticed my hair is so much better when I use the shampoo and conditioner separately. It looks nicer and is a lot easier to manage.

Exactly. My hair is so much more managiblethen before.I don't know how anyone can stand to use a product like the 2 in 1's that weigh their hair down. they're awful!

Yes, I prefer to use different products instead of the two-in-one, but it is nice to use the two-in-one if you are traveling. Currently I am using Pantene Frizz Shampoo and their conditioner as well. I get frizzy hair if I don't use a product for that, it will look like a puff ball, and actually if I let my hair grow very long it can get to be like an afro, hehehe;).

I love pantene.I was using the pantene for thick hair but switched to dove pro age for full hair but it isn't as good so when the bottle's done,I'm switching back. those 2 in1 's are awful.

you aren't gonna get any arguments out of me. I feel the same way. My hair always felt dull and weighed down like it hadn't completely rinsed out. I am much happier with my hair now that I have switched back.

i have heard that it's better to use separate shampoo and conditioner because in that way, the conditioner can be more concentarted and the hair can absorb a lot more nutrients. :)

it certainly is true. The combo's dont compare to the seperate condtioners when it comes to the ingredients. My hair always feel softer with seperate conditioners

Those 2 in 1's just don't do the job. I'm sticking with seperate conditioner's cause I like the way they make my hair feel

I had to stop by and see if anyone actually used those 2 in 1 hair products. I have tried them but like everyone else here. They donn't seem to do a very good job.
I'm surprised they even make it. I have yet to come across a person who actually used 2 in 1's and enjoyed it.

I am surprised I haven't found at least one person who liked the combo's but they are awful.I will never go back to them again ,that's for sure.My hair's much better off without it

I hate those 2 in 1 combos. They make my hair greasy and flat. The ratio of conditioner to shampoo is not right. When I buy them separately, I use the shampoo up faster. I use two bottles of shampoo to every one bottle of conditioner.

I'm just the opposite ,lol.I buy two bottles of conditioners and one bottle of shampoo. I really load my hair with hair conditioner and have no problem rinsing it which is more than I can say about the two in one's

definitely shampoo and conditioner separately! those 2 in 1 shampoo + conditioner..hmm..it feels as if there's no conditioner at all! lol. if i use the 2 in 1, i'd still have to use a separate conditioner .

I don't know how they make those two in ones but they really need to do something to improve them cause I am not gonna use them again.I do not like the way they make my hair feel

i prefer to use shampoo and conditioner seperately because thats the proper way of caring the hair..coz what ive heard, shampoo & conditioner all in one is not healthy..they have different ingredients inside && its not good to mix it together..thats my opinion..

I really appreciate your opinion too. I happen to agree with you. Those two in one's did nothing but mess my hair and make it feel flat.i much rather use them seperately

I don't think the two in one's rinse right cause i had problems combing and brushing my hair. It felt like their was residue on my hair and I didn't like that at all.by the way, welcome to mylot

I like conditioners too as long as they aren't the combo's. Those combo's suck big time.

I use them separately. I have very long hair. A few inches past my waste line. It is also fine, and needs to be untangled to comb. So, using two in one, will not work for me. I use shampoo, and then the conditioner. I finger out the tangles, then wash it out. It is much softer that way for me.

My hair is pretty soft now that I have switched back to a seperate conditioner. My hair always felt like their was still a layer on it.

I use them seperately. I don't think we have too many shampoos & conditioner combos.
Not only that, because I have oily har it is best to only put conditioners on the ends.

I am so glad you guys don't have too many combo's over there. They suck big time. Even after you have rinsed your hair,it still feels like their is a film of conditioner on it.

I must use a separate conditioner. Even at my age I keep my hair long, and with the treatments to cover up gray hair and blond to boot, it is taxing on my hair. I have tried the 2 in 1's but they just do not provide the needed conditioning to keep my hair from splitting. It would be wonderful to just shampoo and go but for me that is not an option.

Those two in ones just don't cut it and seems like most of the members that answered are in agreement. I can't believe how much softer my hair is now that i am back to using seperatley.

I prefer to sue shampoo and conditioners seperately because those 2 in 1 tend to make my hair more oily and greasy while I don't really need that much conditioner. Sometimes I don't even need to use any conditioner at all...

I agree with you completely. My hair always felt a little greasy after I had rinsed but now that I have gone back to using shampoo and conditioner seperately,my hair is much more softer and managible.

I keep my hair cut short...I use a spiking hair gel to hold the natural curls better..so I rarely use conditioner....I have tried the 2 in 1 shampoos and did not ever feel like it was washed completely out of my hair....Now I use Pantene Shampoo only...and do my final rinse in very cool water...it helps with the shine.

You are not the only one who remarked about the 2 in 1's not feeling clean enough. It seems that most are saying the same thing about the combo's.My hair is so much better now.

For simplicity's sake, I would like to use the two in ones, but I have hair that is on the oily side so I can't get away with it. I also switch periodically, because I find it really does reduce any potential lankness.

I thought the combo's was such a cool idea at first but I tried them and don't like them at all.It doesn't help that I have oily hair .The combo's seem to make it worse.
