I am into software development and i think the big boom is going to be of .NET though JAVA has a big capture in the market right now.I presict 3yrs after 3yrs people will be going for .Net more than Java as its going to lose its grip over best paying career. Can i have your views and idea's on it?

I think .Net with C# will rock the IT industry in coming years. JAVA and .Net both have almost same market share presently. With with ERP around JAVA has a edge advantage over .Net. But things will change in coming time...

i think it would be .NET. you know , all the latest operating systems like vista is designed in .NET but others like solaris 10 is designed in java. but i don't think that the market of microsoft would be downed by some other company.

My bet is on .Net.
Having worked with many technologies including Java, I must confess that the productivity delivered by .Net is awesome. Hat's off to Microsoft on this one. Keep it up.

To be fair, I think .NET is great. It has offered me a place where I am consistently delivery great business value to my clients. However, I constantly remind myself that there are multiple ways and numerous technologies to solving a singel program, some better than other. For example, knowing a dynamic scripting language like javascript I can write simple batch/shee automation scripts in much less time, compared to using a compiled language
