Is being popular here at mylot your goal or not?

Bunny likes to have more carrots!!! - Bunny is doing fine with all her threads. She got satisfaction from seeing all her friends participating in her discussions. It doesn't matter if bunny garnered few responses only. After all, bunny preferred to have more carrots.

I have seen a lot of discussions posted asking about ways to generate huge responses, how to make themselves known at mylot and how to have their discussions landed on the top hot spots. For many users, it is a dream come true. The answers are all one and the same: Post unique, well thought discussions that speak of quality, at the same time, can incite the interest and curiosity of mylotters. Avoid one liner discussions, familiarize yourself with the users here, no cheating and spamming. Better yet, collect as many as 1000 friends (LOL!) For the popular users, having huge responses required a lot of hard work too. You need to keep commenting back on all the responses. You need to keep your reputation as flawless as possible. You need to keep digging your brain for topics to post. Not an easy job. Like what a friend told me, it is only for the sake of vainglory to be popular here. Just how far are you going to work yourself up to be popular here? Is it important to you? Is it the only way to motivate yourself to stay here? Aren't you content to receive few responses only? Do share your thoughts.

Hi Bunny, hope all is well. Honestly I could care less if I'm "popular" or not. I enjoy giving advice, suggestions, and insight. It is also great to get it when you have a problem of your own. I would have to say though that the BEST part of Mylot is the friends you make! I feel lucky to have such great friends (this includes you bunny) and the millions we get paid is just a bonus lol.

Yes, Mylot is a great place and as I have stated that getting help and insight from others is one of the best parts, but the best part I still think is the friends you make! Bunny is right though, in some cases it can't be taken too seriously because their are a few not so nice people in mylot land.

I look at it this way. I am popular to my friends here or in the outside world. I am important to my family, I am inportant to all the loved ones I see. So being popular here is just a given. Hahahaha! No seriously, I don't worry that I'm popular or not on myLot. I have been flattered by a lot of comments people have made about my personality also that's great. I've even seen my name as the title of one discussion also. Now that was a shocker yet it sure did boost my ego quite a bit. Hee hee. If I am popular here on myLot then that's just an added bonus to the fun times I spend here daily. I don't go seeking new friends here. I don't expect huge amounts of responses. I write what I feel at the time I think of it and hope it interests someone else is all. Whether they respond or not that's their decision. I'm here for the fun of writing and reading others daily life chronicles, feelings, opinions, etc on daily life issues. I've been a 10 since reaching the Star status. I was a 98/100 then dropped to 97/100 and now back to 98/100. So I guess I'm doing all the right things? Aren't I? Hee hee. Thanks for this informing newbies that see this what's a good way to start being "popular" on myLot. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is what mylot is all about. Being yourself and enjoying the camaraderie shared among mylotters. We can't be popular to everyone but having friends recognizing and accepting us indeed makes a lot of difference.

I couldn't even tell you if I ever had a top discussion as I never look at the names etc there. I look I don't pay attention to stars of others or mine too often either. I'm here for my pleasure and hopefully to spread some of my cheer around as well.

No, being popular is not my goal however it would be nice to receive more than just a few responses to some of the discussions I do post and it is also nice to get other mylotters views as opposed to the ones that normally reply. Not many people on my list are active therefore I have deleted a few and added a lot more especially mylotters with children, and the ones that have given a good quality post, I have requested to be their friend. Not only is it good for me but also for them because most of their discussions I enjoy responding to. :)

Well bunny, I am very content with the friends I do have. I always welcome more, to broaden my horizons so to speak, but not for popularity. I respond only to those discussions that interest me, no matter if they are from a "friend" or not. I have never been a popular person in life, so it's not something I really care about too much. I am who I am, take me or leave me. I try to post topics that I think are interesting or that I really want an answer to. I steer away from topics that are too trivial. I am not a trivial topic poster. I could post 10 discussions a day, but I really don't have the desire for that. I enjoy getting a lot of responses, but I also enjoy the few responses I get from time to time. If a discussion gets 1 well thought out, sincere reply. I am happy. I am a content Mylotter, happy with my firends, my responses, the replies to my discussions and my earnings. No complaints from this monkey.

Honestly I couldn't care less whether I'm popular on here or not. I've read all the suggestions and techniques others use to get "popular" on myLot but really I'd prefer to just do things the way I want to do them. I think some people take myLot way too seriously whereas for me it's really just a place to take a break from working and hopefully have some fun at the same time.

The most important thing for me is to be true to myself. Sure it is nice to recive alot of resonses but i would also never post a discussion that I can not stand for later on. I may not be well very well known here but I am doing my best to be a nice respectful person here as well as in "real" life.

It doesn't really matter to me if I become popular at Mylot. I try to make friends and be friendly to everyone here though. I don't try to get alot of friends just to add them to my list. I try to be productive and helpful to all of them though. I have requested friendships and alot have requested mine too. I hate to deny a friend but alot of times I cannot relate to their discussions so I have to pass them by. I would help if I could but sometimes I just can't. I welcome responses to my discussions but sometimes I don't get a whole lot and it is okay with me. I know all of my friends have alot of discussions to go through and they all have certain likes and dislikes.

It's always nice to receive more responses. Most would be lying if they say they want as few responses as possible - why bother to post a topic then? But a truth remains that no one believes in. Take an example. I post a discussion that generated 100 responses. I spent time to make 100 comments. All I get for this is ONE point to my rating. It brings me perhaps 2 cents. Clap, people, I did well! On the other hand, if I spend the same time, I can make probably another 100 responses. That would increase my rating by ONE HUNDRED and I can maybe make about $2 more. This is a simplistic example of course, discounting some variables but you get the point. I mean, no, you still won't get the point. No one will believe and everyone will keep insisting that they must have lots of discussions that get lots of responses.

Popularity has never concerned me.I just don't try to be the best at this mylot thing either.I discuss what comes in my head.Sometimes I just need to talk about hardships that have come my way. I tend to follow certain mylot users discussions because they are of interests that I can readily respond to.I will also check my main interests to see if new mylot users have joined that might for instance love horses like me so I will be sure to invite them to be my friend. I don't discuss something to try to get a ton of responses..I discuss something because I want to share or warn or lighten my mental load or I need an answer to something I don't know or I just want to make someone happy for no reason whatsoever.. If I make money ok and if I don't that's ok too.. I do hate when I loose points because I have made a error in judgement and responded to the wrong discussion or started a discussion I thought was ok... Hugs

LOL, raydene. You're not the only one. Everytime I logged in, I noticed my points are not increasing either. I honestly stopped counting the number of posts I made in a day or the points I lost. I am very selective in the discussions I responded. Don't know when to reach that 3000 points. Maybe in the next 2 years, LOL!

i see you are a big success.you have many replies in every topic. as for me,it is excited to see my topic is on the top list,i think it is more than being popular on mylot,i consider it a success.and meanwhile, maybe i can earn more if i have more responses.but i don't know how much more. you said having as many friends as possible is better, but,if i got more than 1000 friends, then i think other people will think that i just like to add friends, not want to make friends with them, will they think about that?coz you know,if you have so many friends, then it will take you a lot of time to deal with your friends' topics, when your friend list get to 1000,maybe a whole day is for your friends only, what do you think?

Thank you for the compliment, yanstill. But believe me, it is no chicken work and certainly not my reason for being here. I started from scratch too. If you check my profile, I have about 170 plus friends and only a handful are partaking in my discussions. Many of them didn't know that I'm still existing, LOL! I only respond to those who deserve my attention.

I agree with what becuttieusa said. Many of us are not really here for the popularity or the money nowadays. The money that MyLot pays for your MEANINGFUL responses & MEANINGFUL discussions is a good incentive to sign up & get posting, the friends that you make here is really what keeps many of us coming back. Nowadays, it seems that what keeps me coming back is coming to the rescue of someone who had their discussion copied by some of the cheaters that come here solely to harrass & flame other MyLot members or any other violations that I usually come across.

Yeah - I think you were the thid one who I managed to have found in which your discussion got copied & pasted by this 'cheater' - in which this other MyLot member & I went & commented each & every response saying "This discussion wasstolen from ... & put in the URL to the original. The one helping me out was the second person I had found, also doing the same thing. This other person had me laughing with, "oops - KrazyKlingon beat me to this one" or something like that.

Even though i do like for people to like me,i am not making it my goal to be popular. If i can help someone or answer their discussions that somehow helps ,then i feel i have done a good job.I enjoy talking with my friends ,but i do not like just collecting them for my own gain.I have just enough friends that i can answer and try and be supportive of each one.If i do become popular then fine, but i am not trying to be.I would like to have people think enough of me to answer my discussions.I do not want to be one that ask foolish questions, and i do not try to impress anyone....I just enjoy myself and meet friends and earn some at the same time.

Oh well I love most all the responses I get and I have a great group of friends who always pull me back up :)

I then have another 10-20 that are on and off but fairly regular. Many of the others I don't hear from much at all if at all :( but they do post discussions I can respond to. Hi Charms, I never never thought of this popularity thing until reading this post. Is popularity really one of the goal here?what for? Maybe, unconsciously that is one of the things that mylottian would want to achieve here. But I don't know, I hope you don't get me wrong but I don't see it that way. I am not here to become famous or popular in this community. That as far as I am concern. I don't feign my personality either.I share my thoughts, discuss things with people the way that I am suppose to. I'm glad being here in mylot. It enhances my learnings and I am able to learn the ups and downs or lives of other people. Another thing is I am earning. Tc!

For some people, they want to be popular online and being popular online is their goal.In China, there are so many online idols who rant out directly that their goal is to be well-known online. To be honest,I don't like online idols who keep an affected behavior online. That's too awful!! :(
