I was going through some of my unresolved discussions the other night trying to get some of them cleaned up and mark best responses and i have alot that have been kicking around for a while with only one response. Is it wrong for me to mark that as best response should i leave it hoping for another post or is it ok to mark it for best response? Also when you start a discussion what would be the amount of time you would suggest to let it run before you do a best response one week two weeks is there a point that is too long or two short?

myself ( i know im a beginner) i wait for about 2 weeks to see if maybe someone digs up my topics and they find them interesting enough to comment on, and if they do then i pick the best out of those but if not and i only have one response to something then i usually pick that one to be the best.

I myself ahve no real set "pattern" to giving best response. When I see one that really stands out i award the BR. As far as the one response it all depends on how old it is. If it's 2 weeks or older I go aheads and award BR to that one lucky member.

I usually do not mark best response for at least 1 week- sometimes 2 weeks. I know a lot of times not everyone is on at the same time and I want to give other people a chance to answer the discussion. If after that time- I will select the best response- If I only have 1 response- Wow it is easy then. I give it to that person. If there a lot of great responses I usually pick the first one- Just depends- sometimes a response will jump right out at me and offers a lot of great advice- this may happen after 1 day- I might pick it right away- Your call!

I would mark it a best response after several days if it was on topic. I have a few with no response that I can't resolve at all and I have one or two that I just can bring myself to call a good response.
My rule of thumb on how long I wait, and this is just my own, is to choose a best response after four days of no response. I don't know that there is a magic number, but four was what I was comfortable with.
I'll check out your discussions and see if there are any I can respond to. I know how it feels to have all those unresolved responses!

one way to resolve our discussions is by marking the best response in our posted topic. i usually give myself a time frame of 7 to 10 days before i give a check for the best response whether the topics have one or more responses. this is for allowing myself to get more responses as can be.

If my posts have been open for a week or more with still only 1 respose I choose that as the best. I usually wait to choose one after the post has been silent for 4 days or more.

I really do not have a set time frame before I mark best response....it depends upon the topic of the discussion..if it is something that is fairly immediate that I am asking questions/advice about....if so then I award best response fairly quickly as the situation has now past...
If the discussion is more broad ranged then I want until I see no more interest in the topic...
As with many others...I wish that there was a way to clear up the discussions tht have received no responses...that really annoys me...every time I go to my unresolved discussions...there sits that one discussion that nobody responded to....
Good luck with this issue, Kitkat.....have a blessed day!
