Do you agree that all schools should enforce a uniform policy?

In a way yes because it would help cut down the concept of attending a "fashion-driven" school. There would be less people comparing their material clothing with someone else who may be less fortunate to afford such high name brand clothing. However, I feel like enforcing school uniforms take away from the individuality of a student and his/her ability to freely express him/herself through his/her own personal style. What are your views about this? Have you ever had to wear school uniforms? If so, how did you feel about wearing them and looking just like everyone else at the school?

yes all schools should make uniforms compulsory. because it is a good way to make children learn to make friendship with others. Then they will not be looking at the dresses and think that they are different from us.

I have 2 kids in elemtary schhol right now and there schhol has a uniform policy. It has been in place for about 3 or 4 yeas now. I really dont have a problem with the kids wearing unforms to school. I just hate that they cost so much. And I really dont think my kids care to much either.

i completely agree with you. there are advantages and disadvantages of uniforms in schools. but i think it would be better to do the uniform thing. it's better to have less people made fun of at school then to have a lack of individuality. the kids can be individual about their hair or accesories. then after school they can change and have whatever individuality they wish to have. but people would always be made fun of and that needs to stop in schools.

The school system that I'm a part of Mobile County School System(Ala); they have a uniform policy; I will admit that the cost is better because I buy a week's worth of clothes and shoes and drawers and go from there. This year depending on where my eldest goes for her senior year, I may have to buy regular clothes as well as uniforms for my youngest and work on senior fees for the eldest; So, though I feel the uniform policy is a good one and economical, I have some reservations too.

When I was younger, I hated the idea of uniforms and was glad I went to public school. Now though, I see the benefits of them, not to mentionn how adorable they can be. My two best friends are brothers and went to Catholic school (the younger of the two is still attending, in 10th grade) and wore uniforms from Kindergarten on. The uniforms didn't take away their fashion sense or individuality though, since they are the most fashionable people I know and have helped me learn how to pick out great clothes for myself! They always wear really great outfits outside of school, and also... I think my younger friend looks sooooooo cute in his uniform! I always get so happy when I see him right after school. For kids who are used to wearing uniforms, I don't think it really affects them much. Sometimes I feel jealous now that I've never gotten to wear one...

I think the enforcement of uniform wearing has its good points and bad. Firstly, it teaches students that they should respect a uniform when it comes to getting and holding a job. It encourages them to be smart in a normal, everyday attire, and also that when it comes to ending your day's school or work, that it's really nice to come home and get into something casual. Secondly, it teaches a child that if they belong to a group, then they join together with their colleagues as one unit, to represent that group as respectable and honourable. On the bad side, as you say, not everybody can afford to buy school uniform, but then they can always look around for something second-hand, which will be less costly and probably almost new. I think if you give a child too much license in their school years, they never learn how to dress respectably and when it comes to their later, working years, they turn up with mini, mini skirts and shabby denims, to work. This will almost undoubtedly lessen their chances of employment. So, knowing how to dress is all-important to the teenage child.

When I was in college we have a uniform, for me it's much better if the school enforce uniform policy so that student wont find hard time everyday in picking up their attire for school...
