As I sit and watch the hockey games being covered by Versus, it becomes more and more apparent that these guys have NO idea what they're talking about.
"The Ducks certainly outplayed Detroit in Game 2"
"Buffalo seems to be holding their own against Ottawa"
HELLO!? It's like listening to Madden do a football game. "The team with the most points after regulation time is out, WINS!" At least Madden was right most of the time.
Versus commentary seriously makes me feel dumber for having listened. I hope the Canadian channels carry the cup finals and some more of the conference finals.

I like the commentators on Versus. They explain what is going on so all the novices can follow along. I don't really get upset with what they are saying, I am too busy watching the play. I don't think Verus or NBC will let our cousins from the north cover the Finals. Suggestion. If you don't like the commentators, watch the game without the sound.

It's funny you should say that. 97.1 FM carries the games now, so that was on while the TV was muted.
What bothers me is that the guys on Versus are wrong half of the time about what they're talking about. Not exactly the best way to draw in new fans.

I must be too busy to really listen to them because the games have been so good.I miss the ESPN duo of Bill Clement and Gary Thorne.

The VS announcers bother me in general. They bothered me on ESPN as well. And on the network games.
Did you notice that as soon as Detroit went up 4-0, they didn't talk about the Wings. Which is strange, because even neutral announcers would give some credit to the team up by 4 goals. Instead, they immediately begin to say things like "The Ducks need to plug away and get a couple in this period and a couple in the next to tie the game." (not an exact quote, but close enough) Give the Wings some credit that they could possibly hold on to a 4 goal lead.
They only started to talk about the Red Wings play in the later stages of the 2nd and 3rd when it was clear that the Ducks were not going to stage a comeback.
I was hoping to watch the game on CBC, but they did not have the rights to the game.
Venting over...bring on Game 4!

CBC definitely does a good job with NHL in general. Don Cherry rules! VS announcers are trying to do a good job but you have to remember most of them are former players and have to give their biased take on what is happening. They are only human. I don't think they are as bad as the NBA announcers Hubie Brown and Bill Walton. They suck!

I always loved when they put the CBC games on VS, they're actually focusing on the game instead of talking about what happened months ago, or how the team played years ago.
