When the 7th book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) comes out, it is the last book. There is speculation that Harry will die, but no one really knows. Regardless, the story will be over with the last book, even if he doesn't die.

Well, we won't know until the 7th book is released and since it won't come out until July here in the U.S, I won't know until then. However we do know that someone major will die in this book, and given the prophecy that Harry was marked with, we know that neither can live while the other lives, so one must kill the other. So, it is POSSIBLE, that Harry will die in the last book, but it's not certain. We can only have theories until we read the book.

J.K. Rowling has herself announced that people shouldn't accept rumors about her forthcoming book...so that may be an indication that since the most talked about rumor is that Harry will die..the actual end may not be so.

It's a sad thought of Harry departing us, even in the ficitional sense. My thought? Both Harry and the Dark One will meet their ends. I feel that something will happen where Harry must sacrafice himself in order for Voldemort to die.
