My wife and I have been suffering with sever sinus congestion here recently and we have stumbled across a home remedy that I had to share with my friends. As I am sure you have guessed it is "Tomato Tea". We were skeptical at first then we tried it, and surprisingly it didn't taste awful and it actually worked for loosening our congestion. Now it doesn't work for as long as a medication but for those people like myself, who cannot stand taking a pill when there is something out there that is natural, it does work!(or at least it did for us) I cannot take credit for making the recipe that goes to "Jean" so here is the recipe. After drinking this recipe hot, writes Jean, "Your sinus congestion will disappear REAL fast. All these ingredients not only work on the immediate symptoms, but add plenty of vitamin C to fight a cold, and garlic to fight infection." Recipe: Add 1 cup tomato juice, 1 tsp chopped fresh garlic, 1/2 tsp of hot sauce, 1 tsp lemon juice, and a pinch or two of celery salt for flavor. Heat ingredients and drink hot. I was rather stunned by the rapid effect.

Thanks for this home made remedy. I am having the same problem. I would try this and see if it helps. From where you got this recipe? Did you invent? If it works for most of the people then it should find a place in medical books. Because nothing, that is written in the medical books, ever cured me of this ailment.

AS I said the effect doesn't last as long as a medication, but if you like tomato juice then make as much as you want.

I don't think the tomato has anything to do with the remedy,it is just used to carry the good stuff. The garlic is an antibiotic as well a an antibacterial. The one that actually does the job is the chillie or pepper sauce, this will definitely help to open congested sinuses.

AS far as nothing to do with the remedy, let me first say that tomatoes are a great source of vitamins which may not assist with the initial effect but those vitamins and antioxidants are helping in the long run. Yes I know that the Tabasco or pepper sauce is the main active ingredient but not many of us here in the U.S. are able to turn the bottle up and give ourselves a few good shakes. Anyone that wants to analyze a home remedy will find that there is always some sort of "carrier" for the effective ingredients. So unless you want to dice up a few cloves of garlic and add them to a shot of Tabasco them down the spicy concoction I would suggest the use of the tomato juice.
