A few days ago I PM'd a friend on My Lot. We are planning to meet, as we only live 300 or so kms away, & we respond to each others discussions a lot.
In my PM I gave this person my address & phone numbers.
I discovered via a response that he didn't receive it.
When I checked my messages created it wasn't there.
So just a few minutes ago, I tried to PM this friend another message with much the same content as above. When I checked a few minutes later , it wasn't there, in my messages created..
So, yet again, I tried to do a PM, this time with only my email address. According to my messages created, it did send.
Do My Lot have a ban on giving out addresses or phone numbers? I mean, really, sure it is my perogative to decide whether or not to give out these details. No one else can read them, only the member I sent it to.
What have others on mY Lot experienced in this regard?

I don't have any idea how it works with addresses and phone numbers. I have had amember send me her email address and sent mine with no problem .I guess what you will have to do is just give her your addy and phone number through regular email

Hello, jennybianca,i am not sure about this, but i can tell you i always suffer from glitches when I am sending messages.Sometimes, when i finish typing a message and i will be redirected back to the mylot homepage and the messages have not got through,so I am not sure your is a message glitch like me or is something like what you say.

That is odd, cause I have friends that I made on here and I have sent my email address to a few of them, so that they can contact me, and I know they got it cause they have done such a thing, maybe this is a new thing that myLot is doing cause I contacted them several months ago.

That is strange, I never heard of them monitoring PMs I have had problems with PMs though just last night I tried PMing a friend 2 times and it never did go through - there was nothing but conversation and certainly nothing offensive in it. I've had the same thing happen in the past.
I think it's just some days there are glitches in the system.

Yes, there are lots of glitches, particularly PMs. From what I have read of responses, it it against the rules of My Lot to PM personal info.

I honestly do not know if the PM is really safe to use and viewed only by us. This is my first time to hear about sending address and phone number and yet can't get through. Maybe, mylot decided not to allow such nature since its deemed too private. Better send in your info through email.
I also experienced a lot of difficulty in sending PM. Sometimes, my message will be lost and I needed to send again. Obviously, there is a glitch going on.

I have never experienced this because I have never tried sending private info like that but it could very well be than mylot may not allow sending your addresses and phone numbers. Perhaps hey don't want to be responsible if anything should go wrong. Sounds logical to me.

It is in the guidelines that you are not to post personally identifying information. I did not know that it went that far on PM, but this site has teens that need to be protected. I have shared e-mail addresses with other members, and that would be where you would go ahead and send the other personal info. That way if something bad happens, no one can say it was because of myLot.

I'm not suire but I would have opted with exchanging email addresses to make contact with each other though there (exchanging add & numbers)... A little more personal I think.....

hi jennybianca,
as far as i know, there is no such rules regarding this. infact, i have myself sent some friend my email ID and phone nos. try sending the whole thing yet again and if it doesn't reach your friend contact myLot asking for the reason. i have juast gone through my rules as in FRIENDS and MESAGEs sections. no where its mentioned that ypou can't send your personal details to your friends. infact the whole idea of friends and PMs is to get in close touch with them. ofcourse this is at the discretion of the concerned user.
hope this helps.
have a nice day.

I would never, never give my real name, address and phone number to anyone if it was not a secure site. I am actually very glad to hear that myLot deleted your personal info as you do not know who is reading your PMs. I have alsways been wary that they are not really private.

That was news to me that PM's may not be private. But I guess hackers can get in anywhere these days.

hello jenny well i havent so far tried to send my phone numbers or address to any of my friend, but once my friend do have send me her e-mail address and so it is easy for both of us to contact, may be due to some security reasons or to protect mylotians from any sort of problems, they might have created a ban, i dont think its wrong. dear you can contact your friend via e-mail, dont you think its a relief.

Hi jennybianca. It may not have gone thru because it's on the list of don'ts under "discussion" guidelines, but I don't know if that would necessarily be the same as the PM rules. You may need to use an email outside mylot in order to pass this information to each other, instead of the PMs. ;)

Yes, I think it must be banned sending personal info.
I was able to send just my email address, so now we are in contact.

I can see why MyLot might not want you sharing private info - if you're talking offline, you may be less likely to be talking on MyLot... BUT a natural outcome of being in a social network is making friends you might want to add to your non-online life. PM is private message... It should be your decision.
If it's catching some kind of algorithm that detects address/phone and wipes your message, maybe you want to try to get around it, like spell out the phone number or something. Dunno, just an idea, although I don't want to suggest something against policy.
