does it waste time to play online game? what do you think?

This is a question I know a LOT about. For the last 5 years I have been addicted to an online game. It is called Diablo 2. I would get up at 3 in the morning just to go play it. I would literally spend over 12 hours a day on it. Was it a waste of time? You better believe it! Everything started to crumble down around me. I had absolutely no productivity. If you can play these games as an escape and stress relief that is great. However, if you have an addictive nature they are something you want to avoid at all costs. I no longer play them and have put my efforts elsewhere. cheers

I've never played online game too, but I think the people who like it are indulged to online games, the feeling is too good to tell out, I think.

Your discussion is a hot issue now in China.I believe this issue depends on how long you spend your time on online game.For some people,they spend nearly all 24hours on online game without eating,drinking and resting.These people I believe they are wasting their time.Some of them are not sure what they are doing when they playing online game. But for other people,they spend time on online game just for fun and relax.People need some approches to release their pressure.Online game is a good choice for them.

I don't really play online games, but I think it is entertainment. The same as watching TV or reading. I just think one has to be careful, becuase I could see how it could get addictive and suck up your time and keep you from enjoying the real world.

i do believe playing online games is wasting our precious time,think about what can we do if we don't spend so much time in the games.that is a great pity to waste time in which we can chat with our friends or grasp more useful information to improve ourselves in our career and study.

I think there can be issues with playing games, and especially playing too much (addiction, little interaction with friends and family, etc.) It can be a good place for people who are shy to interact without having to be in person. It can teach hand-eye coordination. In some cases, people can learn about history or other social sciences. This isn't always the case, but there are certainly possibilities there.

Playing online is just for fun and although it may waste time it is something to do when you have nothing else to do the same as if you were to watch t.v or read a book or go for a walk or just some passtime that you enjoy . Playing online becomes an addiction to the fact that you enjoy what you are doing and you can compete with people from all over the world or compete against your own score . It is really just something to do for fun .

It depends upon the student. If you can manage your time wisely, then even if you play online games, it will not be a waste. Also if you find meaning on what you are doing, then there's no waste there.

I think it depends on the game, online single player games and such are pretty much a waste of time. But in example mmo's they bring you in contact with quite a lot of people and although many people say that playing online games ruins your social life, it can be quite the contrary as you become better friends. I have made quite a lot of good friends over online gaming which I spend time with for real every now and then as well, also have I met my girlfriend through online gaming and is working out better than with any girl I have met in a bar or such. Also you talk a lot to people from different cultures and countries in contrary to simply talking to people in your own neighborhood, it is more than simply playing a game. You learn to see different views of life from other perspectives and such quite easily. Only when the only thing you do is level, it can be quite a waste of time, but if you actually interact with people and such it definitely has more to it. Don't let it take over the rest of your life though, so play it with moderation.

Not really. Sometimes you just need something new to occupy your time or just something to do. It can help you to relax, but the problem is doing it excessively.

Whether or not games waste time is all a matter of opinion. To some workaholics (myself not included), playing games is taking up valuable working time. To others, who greatly enjoy playing games (more like me =P), online games can be a source of fun, and a way to talk with friends.
