Hello, I'm not sure if this is the one you are looking for but you can give it a try :) Easy Sweet Potato Cobbler Here's a delicious Mississippi sweet potato dessert recipe. INGREDIENTS: 1 stick (4 ounces) butter 1 cup self-rising flour 1 cup sugar 1 cup milk PREPARATION: Melt butter in a 2x12-inch baking dish. Mix together the flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk; pour into the center of melted butter. Do not stir. Mix: 2 cups cooked but firm, peeled and sliced sweet potatoes 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1 1/2 cups water 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon cinnamon (or other preferred spice) Pour this into center of melted butter and batter. Do NOT stir. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until light brown.

Isn't it such a bummer when you can't duplicate a family recipe, and then you never thought to actually write it down? I'm guessing this is a dessert? Here is a recipe I found on a southern food website. I think it sounds pretty good. In fact I might try it myself, my boyfriend LOVES sweet potatoes. SWEET POTATO COBBLER 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 1/2 tsp. grated orange rind Dash salt 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 tbsp. butter 6 c. cooked, chopped sweet potatoes Pastry for 2 crust pie Combine sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange rind and salt in a saucepan. Combine milk, vanilla and butter. Add to saucepan mixture and bring to boil. Reduce heat and cook about 1 minute stirring constantly. Add sweet potatoes. Cook until potatoes are heated. Divide dough into halves. Roll each half on lightly floured surface to fit the top of baking dish. Line bottom of dish with half of the dough. Cut remaining half into strips. Spoon mixture into greased baking dish. Place strips crisscross across potato filling. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

I just searched through a bunch of recipes for this and this one sounds the best. However, there are other variations that call for either a different kind of crust (so it's more like a pie I guess) or no crust at all. MAMA'S SWEET POTATO COBBLER source: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1738,159189-227206,00.html 2 med. sweet potatoes 3 c. water 2 1/4 c. sugar 2 1/2 sticks butter 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 1 recipe biscuit dough Peel sweet potatoes and slice 1/8 inch thick. Cover potatoes with water and bring to the boil. Cook until potatoes begin to get tender. In a greased 13x9x2 pan layer half the potatoes and 1 cup cooking liquid. Sprinkle with one cup of the sugar, the nutmeg, and chip one stick of the butter over the potatoes. Roll out biscuit dough thin. Cut into strips and criss cross on top. Bake in a 400 degree oven until crust is done and golden brown. Make another layer with remaining potatoes. Again top with one cup sugar, one stick butter, and criss crossed dough strips. Carefully pour enough cooking liquid over the pie until the liquid slightly covers the top crust. Sprinkle the remaining sugar and chip the remaining butter on top of the crust. Bake again in a 400 degree oven until done and golden brown and bubbly.
