I was given this game the other day, but am finding it difficult to get into. I'm used to playing Animal Crossing in real time so it feels very fast!
I'm sure it will be good once I do get into it, it's had great reviews.
Does anyone have any tips for a newbie? I'm unsure what I'm really supposed to be doing!
What do you think of the game?

All I've got to say is to mine. Mine! MIne! MINe! MINE! Mine for earrings, necklaces, brooches and bracelets. For a tip, go to the mines. Next, is save. Then, use your hoe to find jewelry (and remember the place where you found it), and when you find one, load the file where you saved earlier and use your hoe to find the jewelry. Repeat the process and then, sell the jewelry to Van. Don't ship them to Thomas, Thomas' selling price is cheaper than Van's. Good luck mining and wishing you'll find the Harvest Sprites!!!

Hmm. Since you are starting, lemme give you some tips.
The first goal of your gameplay is raising your farm into its limits. And one thing you will need is money. Money in harvest moon when you start can be easy to find. Just search some of the Colored Grass in the mountains (that is located at the south part of your farm) and also honeys (which is located in the tree near your water supply for the crops). After you've got the money you've desired, start planting seeds and give gifts to the Harvest Sprites (which is located at the northeast part of the MAP and the Town, at the back of the church. They live in a small hut) because they will help you in your errands in the farm. Also try to save up some money for chickens, cows and sheeps. The rest is up to you. :)

Well... I've played the one for GBA on my GameBoy Micro... But any harvest Moon game is simple... you farm, you raise animals, you sell crops or save them and eat them... you get married... have a kid... keep working and eventually you die. ... Simple? maybe so... but its SOO addicting! like Sims lol

Well, it's basically the same for each game... Raise crops and animals, woo potential mates, etc... But there are also subtle differences. Which game are you playing for the DS exactly? Is it Harvest Moon DS, DS Cute, Islands of Happiness, or Sunshine Islands? I've played Harvest Moon for several years, and also play Animal Crossing, so I understand what you mean. If you can respond to me and tell me what game you're playing, I can give you some more in-depth tips. Thanks, and hope you have fun!
