What was the most valuable lesson you learned from childhood?

Through the ups and downs of your teen life, what is the most valuable or important lesson you have learned? For me, it is realizing that I made mistakes. It is realizing that my parents were right. They brought me up with morals, but too bad I did not have respect for myself. I allowed myself to be someone's punching bag for a year of my teen life. I should have stayed in school. I should have stayed at home. If I could go back to my teen years, I would smack myself and tell my father I'm sorry. I would tell my teen self that she is somebody and she is worthy of being loved and that no one can make her feel inferior without her consent. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I do know. I am somebody and I made mistakes that I learned from.

Life is one big learning curve but things I have kept with me for a long time include - 1. Never worry about things you have no control over, these will sort themselves out one way or another. 2. Smile at least once to a stranger. They will either smile back or think you are mad, either way you can get an insight into that persons "makeup". 3. Don't take life too seriousley, millions of people are going through far worse things than you are. 4. Be on time! 5. If you make a mistake, own up to it, not only will you learn from it but others will see that making a mistake is just a part of how you live. Just don't make the same mistake twice. My mum says that this is how my father lived his life and I take after him in these traits. I hope I do, he was a great bloke who's outlook on life was an inspiration.

I'm still learning but what i learned are: - to socialive with people - to be independent - to respect myself and others - to love - to think for myself - and a lot more One thing i haven't mastered though is how to discipline myself.

Mine would have to be that life is full of unexpected pratfalls and we have to be able to pick ourselves up, dust it off and continue with our lives no matter what. I also learned that things are not handed to you for no reasons we have to earn these things such as friendship, love, respect, honor and on and on. All of this I actually learned from being in the carnival at a young age. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Oh, yes!! I lived may experiences that I wish I could have been smarter that I was...but looking back...now I realize that without all of the experiences that I have had in my life...combined have made me into the person that I am today...... We all make mistakes....we are supposed to....it helps us learn how to be better people.....or that is what I think!
