The news is frightening and depressing.

My husband loves to watch the news. He wants to know what's going on. I know what's going on...the world is falling apart, going to he*l in a handbasket, and we're living in the days before the Lord rides in a the big white horse. I'm convinced of that.
I don't watch the news if I can help it. Sometimes I hear it on. Or my husband insists on listening to the radio. It just makes me mad or depresses me. I would rather not listen to the news at all. Does that make me weird?

Your husband must be related to mine, lol. I had to order Fox News Network, that's how bad he is, and will watch it constantly.
Personally, I don't watch the news, I feel as you do, the signs are here, and I don't need to watch the news to know that. I find it depressing also, I don't need to know every bad thing that happens.
I don't think you are weird at all, because if you are weird then I am too.

I don't know if it is you or me who is weird. I always watch the news. I would go crazy not to know what was going on at least forewarned is forearmed.

Personally, it's my opinion that being forewarned is one of the causes of high blood pressure and other stress related illnesses. People worry for long periods about some things that never happen which the news says will happen. On the other hand, lots of times disasters happen with no forewarning where prediction and announcement would have saved lives.

At least you will have your husband there to keep you aware of that the world is not a basket of cherries. I have my faith to take care of me. I am probably a lot older than you and I dont have high blood pressure or stress. I am a true believer that ignorance is not bliss!

The news usually only reports BAD things. and BAD things have been happening since PEOPLE have been on this planet. We are the only species capable of killing FOR NO REASON and we do it all the time. We make UP reasons to kill each other.
Go ahead and ignore the news. But there are some things that may be valid for you to know. Do you care about the latest drive by shooting, or who was kidnapped in Haiti? NO. But aren't you interested in weather patterns, local grocery store warehouse strikes (happened in my town last year and the stores ran out of food) etc. It's good to know what is going on around you so you can be prepared. And ignoring bad things does NOT make them go away.

I too watch the news at times and every day it seems like we are watching some recorded stuffs as there is always violence in the news ans we it seems the same movie that we watch many times. Its a spoiled world and we don't get good news these days. You are not weird, I should say that you have a point in your opinion to listen rather than watch the news.

No, I don't think that makes you weird. I really don't care to watch the news that much either, I do watch the weather channel and keep up with all the wildfires, only because I am a wildland firefighter. I hear enough of the news, since it effects our daily lives, so to speak, my boyfriend is in law enforcement. My oldest daughter doesn't watch the news, because her husband is in Iraq right now ( for the 3rd time) and she knows that much of what the media chooses to show and tell us is not all that is going on.

even i have given up watchin news nowadays... but not totally... i do catch up some news that interest me.... i dont watch the news, not just because of the bad news, but more because of the fact that it is FALSE news.... i know that a lot of bad things are happening in the world, but the media just exaggerates it and , even worse twists the facts completely sometimes... i dont trust the media anymore... thats y i dont watch it....

I most definitely agree that the news is frightening and depressing. There seems to be nothing but bad and terrible things that are shown on the news. It is hard to watch and cope with all the bad things that are happening in this world. Even the weather and sports can be depressing as well. We need to have more uplifting and happier news than what we are getting. It is important to stay up to date with world happenings but watching it everyday is too much.

I want to know what's going on, but get tired of hearing all the bad and depressing news. I wish the media would report more good things, but I guess the bad news must get more viewers or something??? I don't think you're weird for not wanting to listen to the news. Sometimes I'll go for days not watching the news except for the weather segment.

I do tend to watch the news but not all the time. I try to get the local news once a day but not always. I have to agree that it tends to be so hard to watch the bad things in our world but that's what the news is. They don't share the good. So while it's disheartening to see it, don't forget they only report the "bad". There's a ton of good going on too.

No, but it makes you a sadly ill-informed individual. All the news isn't bad. We are not living in the end times, since that was made up by some fool to keep his people in line nearly 1800 years ago. There really is very little to be afraid of, and the world is at one of its safest times for most people
