I used to have a website and had to cancel it. I could get my free website back in yahoo but I hear so much about blogging. I do not understand at all and am hoping y'all will explain it to me and the benefit of it rather than a website. Thanks for any help.

A blog, though it sounds like something out of the world, is nothing more than an online version of a personal diary or notebook. It is the shortened version of web-log. You can use it like a sounding board to echo your thoughts. You can choose to let other people view and/or comment on your blog, or you can even have a private blog, much like a diary. You can put up photographs, provide links to other sites and many even allow you to embed video clips from popular websites like dailymotion and youtube. You can have a blog about anything under the sun and the moon. You can write about yourself, or about your favorite activity... anything that you feel that you would like to write something about. Let the creative juices flow! Hear are couple of sites you can check out and sign up for free blog hosting:-

Just to add on a little to what the first responder said, really a blog is just much easier to set up and maintain than a website.
You can create one on pretty much any subject you can think of, but instead of having to create new pages every time you want to add something to it, you simply go into your blogs dashboard and write a post.
Generally you don't need to know any html etc it does it all for you. About the only difference is that you're a little limited when it comes to styles - each page/post is the same as the other when it comes to layout etc - though with the variety of themes you can get nowadays depending on the blog platform you use that's not too much of a problem.
Blogs and websites both have their pros and cons it's often entirely up to the user as to which the prefer. I do both :-)
