the gladiator is simply one of the best movies... 300 is also a great movie... but which is better? both movies are set in the past, when swords and spears are the weapons of choice rather than guns. spartans and romans... who's better? :]
i like 300 for their fight scenes. i also admire king leonidas' wisdom, which was very evident in his planning to wage war at the pass of thermopylae. the only catch is that there were some unrealistic characters involved which makes the movie a little bit overboard. gladiator is the better of the two movies for me... the fight scenes are breath-taking plus maximus is as smart a person as he is brave and kind-hearted. the movie is also full of lessons, like the one where the emperor of rome told his son, commodus: "you're shortcomings as a son failure as a father." or something like that. :]

I give both movies two thumbs up. But sticking with the topic, I vote for Gladiator.First,Gladiator is more realistic than 300. 300's movie style seems more like a comic book style (as I may say, SIN CITY style). Second, 300's fighting style is definitely unique but not si realistic enough. And third Gladiator's theme and plot are much more flexible comparing to 300.
If I will rate both movies I give it to Gladiator due to the fact that it shows "Life" per se than 300.

when you are making a movie and not a biography, you do not need the facts to be accurate and non introduction of mythological characters can be permitted. this is not life where everything must have a logical reason.
300 is a really nice movie, and the bluescreen effects are really good. of course, gladiator is a real beauty itself, no denying that fact!

Bought movies were made in with different style of cinematography.. 300 is done with cool movie feautures and unique action scences all those the story is short and very predictable.. As for the Gladiator, the fight scenes were also awesome but the cinematography is not that advance with that of 300.. Basing on what the movies achieve, 300 gained about $150 million from all movie goers.. While the Gladiator eaned almost $500 million.. Let's not also forget Russel Crowe won the best actor in the Oscars because of his portrayal as the leading actor.. Gladiator also won the Best Picture of all major awards..

gladiator is far superior. Looking at both movies side by side, there is no plot to 300 other than 300 spartans go to fight some persians. gladiator has a full plot complete with great acting. Instead of giving the audience a mindless movie, it actually brought emotion to the silver screen (i mean the last scene of the wheat field in gladiator compared to a bunch of spartans with arrows in them...)

i go for 300 as 300 is an absolutely terrific movie. the attitude, the valour the spartans display send a chill down my spine. so much to keep their honour. they challenged and even demured a person who projected himself as god. i think they were bogged down by the wrong priests who just had no respect for these warriors. my personal favorite line in the movie when the king says : SPARTANS NEVER RETREAT!!!!!!!!!!. the greatest sequence when the king as a young lad fights the beast and also , when he kicks the intruder into the well..

i liked both movies, that to compare them will just be as useless, they have their own story, their style and drama, and it set in different era, romans are different from spartans..dont you just get it? and 300 was based in a comic book so naturally the storylines will be unrealistic.

300 would have been better if not for the fact that all that blood tended to evaporate into thin air, while on screen. This ruined any realism in the fighting. (The movie still owned though) On the other hand Gladiator was far more realistic, and far more believable. The only really unrealistic character in 300 would have been the blade armed guy. Everything else was plausible. Even then that guy still has some, he just probably wouldn't have lived very long thanks to infections and what not. The big "troll" is obviously just some guy the keep locked in a cage and poke with bladed sticks on occasion to keep him angry and pissed off, possible, the Immortals and their filed teeth, possible, painful, but possible.

I haven't had a chance to see 300 yet, but I heard it is fantastic. I do like the Gladiator however. Yes, it was full of lessons and depicted the Roman mindset pretty well.
I enjoyed the fight scenes and I couldn't agree more about the wisdom of the Character of Maximus. I also appreciated how wonderfully they presented the mind of the emporer and the depraved thoughts and actions they had in those times.

in not with your view.300,is ok,a good movie.graphics is of high standard.but we cannot compare that with gladiator.gladiator is a classical movie,of all time great.gladiator is more emotional.fights are of high standard...but the way in which movie moves make us feel that we are also living in that era.

the 300 ...it's a great movie ...the gladiator also a good movie but ...every movie ...has his time ....gladiator was a big succes in 2000....now 300 it's a big succes....it's hard to compare this two movies ...
personally i liked 300 great special efects ,great story ...true... most of it i liked very much from start to end I also liked gladiator verry much but like i've said ...every movie has his time ...if i see now gladiator i will say that it's almost boring.....but at that time it didn't bored me at all
from 300 i like the part with the fountain ...or big hole ///when leonida said "this is sparta!" and the part whit the arrows "we will fight in the shade" ....but i didn't like when they start to laugh that sucked ....the worst part of the movie

yes i agreed as it is said that gladiator is one of the best movies it is because the actor is also good and very fitted to his role as general..i have also watched the 300 it is also a great one...for me i rather choose the movie gladiator because it is realistic than the 300 in terms of the visual effects....
