The only pets I have now are hermit crabs. Most people probably do not think they are very expressive, but that is because they don't have any. Believe me these little creatures are expressive. They are like people. They are adventuresome, intimidated, excited, etc. They get antsy. I have had dogs and cats. Cats are kind of funny. Many times they look at you like they think you are stupid lol. I have never seen a dog do that. Dogs are really sensitive. Emotional.

Yes, we have numerous pets. Two dogs, two cats, 3 goldfish & two birds. Its the cats especially that I wonder what they are sometimes trying to say to me. I talk to my cats quite a lot.
My older cat, has this expressive face, with eyes hat go big, & I know kind of that shes annoyed at something.
Or she gets the smoochy look on her face, & that can mean she wants attention.
Or she miows in a certain tone, & that can mean she wans me to let her out.

My friend has a cat that's very vocal. It just looks at you and miows real loud, and it sounds like a complaint. It doesn't matter if he's just been fed, or if he's had attention, he'll just do that and look like he's waiting for you to do something for him.

One of my dogs is really vocal and makes all sorts of strange and unusual barking but not barking noises. Roo-roos, and all types of variation on that. He is a simple sort of dog so we don't puzzle over it too much. It usually has something to do with his stomach or his tennis ball or just being hapy to see us come down the stiars in the morning.

Are you doing anything at the time? Is there some specific trigger for the "talking". Perhaps she just wants someone to talk back. Most dogs understand more than we give them credit for. My dog can say No, can nod yes and responds with the right one most of the time when Asked questions. Dogs learn by sight a lot more than we think. For instance...try this, simply say to your dog "is that so? Ya don't say!" when she does that, and see if you get a positive reaction. If this doesn't get a response, maybe try saying "show me please, I don't speak doggy". They understand we don't speak doggy but they forget because they understand us way better than we understand them. (It's like being able to translate a language in your head but not speak it!) Does she stop when you move? Does she show any emotion over it? Does she appear sad, happy etc? She might just be relaying neighborhood gossip LOL. My dog talks as well. He makes these low growly, howling noises to indicate when he wants something specific. If you listen closely to her, she might actually be making word sounds. Mine says out loud for all to hear "Want Out" "Want Water" "NOW" "BAD" It's a matter of how conversational you are with your dog. Do you speak full sentences or do you tend to one word command your dog? If she's talkative simply talk back ! It's pretty much that simple.

Yes, I talk to her all the time, and I say show me what you want, and sometimes she does, but sometimes she just talks back. It sound pretty funny when she does it, it's almost like a huff sound. When I can't figure out what she wants, I just talk to her. She'll eventually sigh and go lay down.

Awww, my thought is that she is expressing her love and or appreciation to you. Sylvie (kitty), when she is so content on her bed (which is high up at my eye level, which makes her happy), and cuddled up, and you go to talk just saying how much you love her and how sweet and cute she is, she looks at you and chirps so sweetly. Then you pet her and she chirps again. :o)
She doesn't "chirp" often, but the one other time she really does is when she's looking out the window and sees a very active bird or squirrel right in front of her face. Then it's also definitely in a different tone quality. Not the happy content one.

My Petey (my dog) was like that. I could always tell what he wanted or needed just by how he looked at me. And he always new when I was upset and would come cuddle to me till I felt better.
My cat, Morgana, shes a different story. She will come lay by me if she thinks I'm upset and she cries terribly when I leave the house but I have a harder time figuring out what she wants.

Maybe the dog is trying to tell you he loves you.
I have 2 cats and they are always meowing at me out of the blue.
I would like to know what it means but I just assume they are showing love in the only way they know how.
