Beer and High Blood Sugar

I have a friend whom I believe to be an alcoholic and his doctor recently told him that his blood sugar is high. He also has high blood pressure and he smokes. I am afraid for him and there is no reasoning with him. He does what he wants to do regardless. His girlfriend told me about it today and I did not want to say a whole lot to scare her, because I am not really sure of all the facts myself. I remember when an ex-boyfriend of mine found out that he was diabetic, he had almost died. I had been making him homemade milkshakes the night before and his blood sugar was sky high before he got to the hospital. I think it was like 832 or somewhere in that range. I remember the doctors telling him that if he wanted a beer, he had to miss a meal. Of course, he was not an alcoholic, but I had to stay on his case all the time about not eating sweet stuff. Does anyone know the results of high blood sugar and to much beer?

Well my Uncle lost some of his toesa from being a diabetic and drinking to much. He can't see well at all anymore because of being a diebitic. Both of my parents are diebtic. So i keep a check on my blood sugar. my mom's was over 400 today. Mine was normal. It worries me though because I already have multiple sclrosis which is a nerve diease.

It sounds as though diabetes runs in your family the way that cancer runs in mine. Yes, you have to be careful what you eat and get regular check-ups. I am glad that in spite of your illness, you are still able to do things for yourself.
