My troop is moving up to cadettes this year. So after a small moving up ceremony( we only have 4 girls) we'll take a trip in July overnight to an amusement park. The girls love the aspect of staying in a hotel. The plus side is its a Mother daughter event, so the girls get in some one on one with Mom. It should definitely be fun! Tell me what your planning on doing, Fran Mc: )

We had a Birthday party for all the girls. We don't have any kind of party for each girl, we just sing Happy Birthday near their day and then have cake and ice cream and junk one day at the end of the year.
We have a big Bridging ceremony this weekend to bridge the three I have moving up. Well two will bridge, one will just move up. She missed quite a few meetings and did not earn her bridge. We also have an ice cream party at the same time. That was planned for last month, but it STORMED and was very cold the day we had it planned, so we had to cancel and we will just combine them. Next week we will have a troop lock-in and play games all night. Then a skate party, and in the future we will have a day at the park, a Bonfire and maybe a hike. I am sure the girls will come up with something else to do on top of these things. We don't meet each week in the summer but we will still be active.

Our troop had a Court of Awards ceremony at one of our meetings. We did a candle lighting ceremony as well. Then last Tuesday, our area got together for the big end of the year Court of Awards and Bridging ceremony at camp. It was raining, thundering and lightening so the ceremony was held on one of the big lodges. I had 5 Cadettes bridging into Senior scouting. They did their bridging inside but they were not happy about it. Their desire was to bridge over Red Bridge. Several other troops presented their awards and bridging scouts. Then it was time for snacks.
Right after snacks, the weather broke open. The girls were elated. We very quickly ran through camp to get to the Red Bridge. Some of the scouts from the other troops came with us. Some of the adults came with their cameras to capture the moment.
The girls arrived at Red Bridge. The younger scouts told each one, "Goodbye Cadette." Then they took a deep breathe and took their walk across this special bridge. On the other side, a Senior scout greeted them with the words, "Hello Senior." and a handshake.
My co-leader and I cried as we do every year this happens.
This summer we have trips and parades planned for every month. We will stay busy all summer long.
